I usually project on my back and float "up."   Once I projected on my side.  Never on my stomach - - - however I'm hardly ever in that position anyway, due to my physical form (it hurts my back).

so did you see yourself asleep as you lifted?

Its usually side or back for me - once on my stomach. you said :

"I USUALLY get vibes when I am laying on my back (and it often takes me longer to fall asleep on my back). "

Perhaps that's why it appears to be more commonplace whilst lying on your back - because your body is not used to this position when going to sleep ?

Anyways, I reckon that its possible to project in any position.

My real question is why it is common to project from the position of laying on your back...but then I guess I have read that many expereinced projectors do indeed project from the sitting position.  But by in far most people project when laying down, on their back.

Has anyone heard of someone projecting while walking or doing some other activity like that (obviously not in trance state, etc.)?

Robert S. Peterson wrote that he has had many spontanious projection, one of which I recall in relation to,
quote:

Apparantly he was walking down the street and just "fell out" of his body! Returned after whatever amount of time (very brief) to find he had not missed a step.

Interesting, I tend to wake up with vibrations once or twice a week, which I then utilise to bring on a projection. Almost always, when I wake up I find that I am lying on my back!
Only once or twice have I felt these vibrations when on my front or side.

I think it it more psychological than anything else. When I lie on my back I am thinking about projecting, when I lie on my side, that's the signal that I want to go to sleep!
I think this is in-built for me. I think what happens is that I move around during sleep and on the odd occasion end up on my back which sends a signal to my subconcious to say 'hey... lets project'. I then wake up with all these vibrations. Of course maybe its the other way round. Maybe its my subconcious sending a signal to my body to turn onto its back because it wants to bring on a projection... who knows.

Last night I almost had an involuntary conscious projection while I was falling asleep.  I happened to be lying face down, well, with my head turned to the side of course.  Anyway, the vibrations were really strong and then I started to think too much, if you know what I mean, and the I lost it.  I also got lazy and just fell asleep because I am not actively projecting this days, too busy and not enough energy and will...

My question, and I know this has been brought up in the past, is how many of you have projected or even felt vibrations while laying on the stomach instead of back.  I USUALLY get vibes when I am laying on my back (and it often takes me longer to fall asleep on my back).  Id this true for you too[?]
