I've been trying to OBE for a couple of months. Have had success in generating good vibrations a few times but not in getting out. I had a pretty intense experience again last night, perhaps one of the strongest so far. I am guessing it is due to the extensive  energy raising I did. I started to feel strong vibrations as soon as I got into the bed. I tried a few exit techniques such as the rope, ladder etc and raised the intensity of the vibrations. My heart chakra was going like crazy but couldn't really get out.

After 45 mins of trying or so I took a little break, came back and then started doing my nightly affirmations. This got the vibrations going again. I tried to do some noticing, let go of my body and started to feel my whole body going to sleep. My vision started to go deeper and deeper into the blackness with sparkles of random light and my body felt like it was progressively going to sleep. I was still awake in my head. I guess this is what folks mean when they say OBE is about keeping the mind awake while body is off to sleep. I kept saying the affirmations and I felt my energy body expanding to the point that I couldn't feel my legs. I tried a few exit techniques again such as roll out, rocking and asking for help but didn't make it out. I was getting tired and tried raising my energy leg but felt my physical leg move.  Finally gave up after an hour of trying or so.

Any thoughts on what else I can do to get out? Thanks for all your help in advance!

First off there is the "after 45 mins you took a break" statement. Most people, at least in the earlier stages start seeing results after 45-60 mins of attempting. Some even one and half hours. Next if you are trying the Phasing method, get away form the physical sensations. You shouldn't be trying to feel your legs or any other part of your body. In Phasing your body isn't there period. With Phasing and noticing you don't need to climb out of your body.
It sounds like you are almost there. Keep it up.
Good Luck!  :-)

I suppose everyone is different, but I tend to suggest shorter periods of practice, like 35 to 45 minutes. In that period of time, your body should be well relaxed and on it's way to sleep if not already. You don't want to burn yourself out too early in the beginning, or begin to associate practice with lying around for long periods of time and waiting. I can normally tell within 15 to 20 minutes if I'm headed in the right direction. If I'm not in a deep trance at 35 minutes, it aint gonna happen and no need to waste my time. Maybe do some quick energy exercises and wrap it up.

But again, everyone is different, use your intuition.

An huge thing is also focusing on breathing and not moving. Atleast for me, I usually start to feel my melatonin levels rise after 10 minutes. Atleast for me.

What affirmations are you using?

I prefer Tom Campbell's view of it...

You don't have to "separate" or "get out of your body"... as much as you have to "quiet your mind" and "get into your consciousness".
We learn to do this through meditation.

Stookie, how do you know if you're in deep trance .. visuals, astral noises etc? I find that I can still hear external sounds  (from physical) and even fell my body while in trance.
