Title: New idea...maybe :)
Post by: joneagle_28 on November 04, 2010, 08:37:37
So I have experienced the wonderful sensations of astral projecting, both through phasing and the classical OBE. When I was first learning how to project however, I found myself loosing concentration very easily and thereby falling to sleep.  It was always frustrating for me, so I invented the movie visualization technique.  Basically what I do is I get into a deep trance (more than likely deep alpha), then I remember one of my favorite movies.  I start from the beginning and I try to remember, with perfection, at least 20 minutes of the movie.  The first time I tried this technique I was so amazed with it's effectiveness!  After 20 minutes of playing this movie in my head, I would then take a break and look at the blackness behind my closed eye lids.  To my amazement I would no longer have any sensation of my body, and then if I held on to my consciousness for at least another 5 minutes, I would see the hypnogogic images.  I would follow that until I start to either:
A. Feel the vibrations or get symptoms of OBE exit sensations.
B. I feel a shift of consciousness and start to phase.
C. :( I fall asleep LOL
That's it!  So for everybody with a block in the middle of their A.P practice, give this a whirl and tell me what you think.  If I need to be more clear with my technique, just let me know.

Happy Journeys!

That's a good tip!  :)

I find that visualizations, well, for me at least, are the best methods to project.
That's very close to a mental rundown.  :)

Do you ever end up inside the movie? :P

I'm going to give this a shot tonight.

End up inside the movie?
You sure could!  In essence, you're CREATING the movie in the astral... stepping INTO what you're visualizing is Phasing.  :)

nice idea. I'm guessing a porno may be counter-productive.

Whatever floats your boat.
But you might not stay lucid for long. ;)

Ill give this a shot too :)

When you do this type of meditation, are you using binaural beats? or nothing. I've noticed that if I dont use the binaural beats, I have a much harder time focusing. It kind of feels like a crutch though = \

I have a bike ride that I do in my head. I can rarely make it past 22nd st.

I find that in practice it's good to do something that is repetitive, that way your subconscious may keep doing the cycle even when you tune out. Basically a rundown.

When I'm trying to do something unrepetitive and tune out, I'm more likely to start daydreaming, losing concentration and focus. It's still fun to do though, not saying don't try it. But when you start daydreaming, you've lost the exercise and need to come back.

Depends on what you're trying to achieve.

I've actually done this before but without the movie part. I was lying in bed one day trying to project and I start to get sleepy. So I fall off to sleep and start seeing hypnogogic (hope I spelled that right) images and sort of went into a dream I guess you could say. Then all of a sudden my awareness is jerked out of the dream and I am aware that my body is immobilized and my heart is racing. Though I never turned this into a projection, it did make me think about revising my methods for exiting my body :-o
