Title: New Member with questions for those experienced
Post by: meelio on February 23, 2014, 13:40:56
Sorry guys, I'm new to the site and new to AP altogether.  I've been reading up a lot about it and have a few questions, if someone could help me out, I'd be soooo grateful!

1. So I've had two instances in the past few weeks where I think I may have started the projection process.  To note I've been able to lucid dream since I was a child.  The first experience, I had been thinking about ap all day, but didn't think about trying it yet, as I didn't feel I knew enough.  Anyway that night my body was shaking hard, and I could hear ringing in my head, not coming from outside my head like sound would, but in my head ( does that make sense?)  Anyway this overwhelming feeling of fear took over and I felt the need to get back in, but by then I realized what could be happening and tried to continue, but it was too late, I was back.  Would this have been ap or would it have been a super intense dream?

2. The second occurrence happened about a week after the first.  I had no plans to go astral, but the same shaking was happening, this time I felt like my body was light.  I was hearing screams this time around, told them to stop and they went away.  Still had a feeling of fear and once the fear took over the experience was over.  Does this make sense?

3.  What is the best way to AP?  How do I control the fear I feel?  I don't know why I feel such intense fear when I have these experiences.  How do I stay in the astral world?  So far it's only been a matter of seconds, can it go longer?

4. Are you able to interact with people who are not astral while being astral?  For example, would you be able to give someone a message who was not astral, but you were?

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

I'm not very experienced in AP myself but I hope I can provide some helpful feedback. Firstly, everything you are experiencing is normal when it comes to AP.

A lot of people are initially hindered by fear. I think the key to overcoming it is to simply focus on something else. That is, instead of thinking how to not be afraid, try to simply not give it any attention. Focus on warm, happy thoughts and the fear will subside and you will be able to project. Once you have projected you will learn that fear is limiting and ultimately unnecessary.

I don't know if this will help but I'll share it anyways  :-D.   I've been projecting since early childhood and everything you've described is normal that said... A couple of years ago, I for whatever reason started to fight leaving my body, I mean really fighting it!, screaming for anybody to wake me, clawing at my spouse I mean I really was "coocoo". After I calmed down and realized there was nothing to be afraid of but Myself things went back to normal.  A couple of weeks passed and my daughter and I were causally watching t.v when out of the blue she said " thank god you've stopped screaming at night, you were sooo annoying!" I asked her whatever did she mean and she explained that when she was out of her body at night she would run to my aide because I was screaming and acting a fool.... I didn't know what to say but laugh. Here my 13 yr old daughter is telling me I'm an idiot lol. So you can have contact with other astral travelers  :-D even your beautiful daughter etc. I've projected too many times to count and I cannot specify this enough you are completely safe! There is Nothing to be afraid of! Think of it this way, my 80 lb 13 yr old little girl projects every night and loves it. If she can do it Anybody can lol

I could imagine your experience may have had a dose sleep paralysis alongside it right before you were booted out. Nowadays I AP, even when I don't want to. Sometimes the realization that I am out of body escalates when a fear is introduced. A feeling of sleep paralysis is soon to follow. Usually the fear is 'sneaking up behind me' out of sight. In these cases, either convince yourself that it's all your own doing, there is nothing there or to fear, this is the truth. Or simply wiggle your toe. That'll boot you out nice and safe.

Fear is rough when you start, I wish you a few awesome experiences soon. Once you have a few good ones, you'll be in much better shape to trend good all time. Keep up the practice.

Cheers,
Contenteo

Sorry guys,
No need to apologize, it's a forum, we share.

Quote1. Sounds like the onset of an OBE. (Out of body experience).
Quote2. It makes sense and it's one of the main reasons people abort the process before getting out.  You need to work through the fear.  We've all felt it, we've all done it repeatedly, and we're all here, alive.

Quote3.  What is the best way to AP?  How do I control the fear I feel?  I don't know why I feel such intense fear when I have these experiences.  How do I stay in the astral world?  So far it's only been a matter of seconds, can it go longer?
The best way to AP depends on your symptoms.  But whatever technique you choose, keep at it until you've been out.  Experiences can go longer, but don't aim for duration, aim for quality of experience.  One of the things about projection is that most of the symptoms stop after you've successfully separated, even the fear.  The fear, btw, is almost always  not mental, but a product of your mammalian brain having all its' 'danger' signals going on at once- like any other prey animal.  It is possible that the amount of energy expansion going around your body feeds back and tweaks the 'fear' part of your brain.  It's like pms for women- caused by chemicals, not 'thinking patterns'.  You accept the sensation of fear, even be amazed at it, and work your technique through it.  The best way out is through.

Quote4. Are you able to interact with people who are not astral while being astral?  For example, would you be able to give someone a message who was not astral, but you were?
Yes, but unless they're in trance, they're not going to remember them.  That's because the aspect of them you're communicating with isn't conscious.  So no recall.

I hope this is helpful.
