Although, it wasn't the kind of experience I had hoped for, I finally achieved an OOB where I was not instantly back in my body asleep. Though it's not believed to be the best method. I have been in the habit of trying to induce an AP before bed. Almost instantly, after several deep breaths I would get a tingling sensation that would start at my feet, and move upward. This would frustrate me, because while I heard these sensations usually hit right before an exit. I was under the impression that at first, you were supposed to be unaware of your body, and wait for the hypnagogic state, but when both were coming, and I still would not exit after quite a wait I would get frustrated and  would get up to shake off the feeling pins and needle. Then return to bed for sleep instead. Last night the same thing happend, but instead of getting up, I rolled on to my side, and decided just to go straight to sleep, but almost instantly, strong vibrations gripped me, and I felt myself floating upwards, then found myself bouncing in my bedroom almost like a rubber ball, my door was already open, so I just walked into the hall into another bedroom. Oddly enough, things appeared almost black and white, but the whites were almost luminous. I saw a large black spider on my wall, which had wings, and kept flying my way. Although I read such astral creatures are manifestations of our own subconscious fears, I remember feeling more annoyed than frightened, because I felt it was distracting me from achieving what I wanted, which was to leave the house, and explore, and I soon woke up.  I am wondering if there is an easy method to travel to an interesting or desired location? Thanks

Hi,
Yes, it has to be well known to you all details including smells, where it is, the colours how it feels to be there. This helps to get you there and not to an alternate location..
Firstly you need to really need to be there with NO emotions tied to it.Then think as is you are there already. Close your eyes KNOWING you are there, the feel of the place, the noises etc.
Open your eyes and you should be there. If not do the same again using a different feeling for the place.
It takes a few attempts when new to it but its relatively easy.
There's far more where the eye can't see.
Close your eyes and open your mind.

Hi, and thanks for the reply. So it's probably easier to arrive at someplace you have been to before? That makes sense. At this stage, I would just be happy to leave my house and explore the neighborhood. Although seeing an astral entity so early in the game was a bit unsettling, my fascination is greater than my fear.  I would love to see much more.

Hi twilighter
Congrats on the OBE!  :-)
Astral wildlife is Very abundant and some of the creatures can be quite strange. IMO most of the beings that one encounters when out of body are actual entities in that they do have an objective existence outside and apart of the person who is OOB. Sometimes though the creatures can be thought elementals that are products of the OBEers own mind (somewhat like dream characters except on the ethereal or astral plane). If you are ever in doubt about this it is best to actually ask the creature(s) in question and they will usually tell you what they are.

Sincerely  8-)

I am sure happy spiders don't have wings here on the physical. That would suck. :-P

Thanks, the funny thing is I never felt threatened by the spider. In fact, as strange as this sounds, I got the sense that this astral creature was somehow being more playful and mischievious than anything else. At one point it landed smack on top of my head, and I remember shooing it away, and sort of telling it to knock it off lol. I remember little else after that, except suddenly finding myself back in my bed. But it's good to know you can comunicate with them, when you have to.
