problems exitting, strange pains

I am not new to astral projection but it has been a few years, today i entered paralysis and tryed to ethericall project. Like usual, my arms and legs came out easily however, i could not get my neck and head to come out. The more I tryed to pull myself out, I actually felt pain in those areas. I finally got my neck unattached but i felt a painful ripping sensation. Anyone know why this is happening and how i should exit properly from the body? This also only pertains to councious etheric projection from paralysis, not phasing.

Obviously, the pain is in mind, not real.
Best thing to do is, to stop trying very hard and let the parts relax more.
Once they are so relaxed that you lose awareness of them, you can try again.
