The Astral Pulse

This is my latest OBE.


(This OBE is numbered 85 in my notebook.)
   This OBE was different from most of my other OBEs and was actually quite confusing. It was very obviously an OBE at the time during which it was taking place (and I was even reasonably sure of where I was). Yet when the OBE ended and I was back in normal waking consciousness then the memories of what had happened were confused and the location that I was in seemed mostly unfamiliar.
   The OBE began when I became conscious lying in a bed in another bedroom in another location. It was probably a small bedroom in a house where I had lived in New Orleans. (This is only a best guess because I am really not certain of this.) I felt that I needed to separate my astral/ethereal body from my physical body and project into an OBE. [Obviously, however, I had already gone out of body because that could not have been my physical body lying in that bed.] Yet somehow I was not aware of that. So I tried to separate to induce an OBE. After 2, 3 or 4 tries I managed [a second} separation (?) and was satisfied that I was out of body.
   It was very dark in the room as there was hardly any light. So I could barely see anything. I managed to pass directly through a glass window and got outside. It was almost darker outdoors than indoors. All that I could see was a quiet street, a few trees and 1 or 2 houses in an unfamiliar city neighborhood. The OBE ended just a few minutes later in mid-flight.
   Notes. Time was between 3:00 - 4:30 AM. Duration was about 5 to 10 minutes.  OBE # 85 took place (I believe) in Locale I and a familiar location (though it could well have been a BST). I did not encounter any familiar or unfamiliar person(s) or being(s). Deliberate,  Confused,  Energy-pranayama,  Meditation,  Flight, Metamusic, Travel-teleport.

This was a dark and confusing experience which I still do not understand. Particularly strange was the fact that I "woke up" in another bed in another house (or apartment). Normally I would have realized that I was already out of body. Yet this was not so and I had to affect another separation and OBE. After that things were routine (although everything seemed very dark). Insights and comments are welcome.

Good question and the answer is NO. And that is why I am confused. Also the OBE was so short that I could not find out where I was.
And it was not a dream either. I Am quite sure of that because even though the OBE was dark and confusing I was quite certain that I was out of body.

Depending on your vibrational state you may not have been in you real time body which would be the body that would see a mirror of waking life. You most likely were still in bed but you were seeing through your astral eyes rather than your real time or expanded etheric body.

I agree with that. After thinking it over for awhile I concluded that I was probably in a false awakening. So I had actually already projected into an OBE before becoming aware. It was a very low energy experience as everything appeared to be dark. Almost a "heavy" feeling throughout. Also the unfamiliar environment was disorienting. It probably was a result of some 'dark' aspect of my consciousness taking control at that moment. (?)

Its possible that you were initially in a dream when you saw yourself lying in a dream house. After which your awareness rose and OBE took place. It seems like a transition from lucid dream to proper OBE.

It has happened to me many times that I just dream about having an OBE (non lucid dreams). I go through all the motions of a typical OBE in the dream and when I wake up I realize that I never left my body. Its irritating.... :D

I agree, with the difference that I think that the OBE really did occur (it was not only dream consciousness). It shows just how fine a line there is between some of the various states of consciousness.
My general rule is that although there is some overlap between some states of consciousness, example dream><OBE and dream<>Hypnangogia I believe that it is possible to be 100 % certain about being in any of those different states (with the notable exception of a false awakening). So I was already OOB when in the false awakening and then became aware of my true state during the "second" separation.
