OBE in my sleep?

(keep in mind until yesterday I'm not aware of any lucid dreams or OBEs though I have had close times with both it seems)
........
Coming out of a dream that felt very important, felt like I was learning a lot.  I suddenly found myself aware of myself but I was no longer in the dream.  I was lying on my back and there is nothing anywhere, ie I don't see anything at all.  I become vaguely aware that my physical body is lying on it's back?  But I don't see anything or hear anything.

But I feel, I feel extremely energetic?  Not so much vibratory, I've felt vibrations during meditation and trance states that begin and get stronger but there is a definite pulse to them (or there has been in the past) like there is time between the vibrations.  What I felt here seemed constant but exponentially more powerful than what I had felt in the past.  So I really feel like I am energy, or like I was plugged into something and I am radiating energy, so strong that I can barely handle it.  It's very pleasant but sooo powerful of sensations.   Like I was exploding in a sense, or radiating REALLY powerfully.

So at this point (this all happens rather simultaneously) I am also aware that I am body conscious, and I am very awake and stimulated, very focused?  So I think to raise or increase this state and instantly I feel a powerful expansion, I don't know how else to describe it.  Like I could feel beyond just my previous body, the sensations were very similar but larger and less defined, less noticeable contours – like before I could kind of feel the shape of my body with the energy and now I couldn't in the same way, but I still felt like I was there.  I was aware of a feeling of a rather infinite space around me.

So I remember to kind of think or imagine away from the body, so I tried three thoughts.  The first was of a ceiling, and this had no effect that I was aware of.  The second I tried to imagine a place away from here but I couldn't really materialize it.  The third I thought just "UP" and whoosh!  Up I went!  It was incredible, the energy become overwhelmingly powerful and I felt kind of like a reverse roller coaster?  Does that make sense?  I felt like I was falling upwards at an incredible pace, like I could feel the momentum.  This process was so powerful that it caused me to scream in my mind and this resulted, I think, in the visualization of a face screaming.

Now this face, which I think was my own, was not like my normal face, it was like the space that my face creates when it is pressed into a thin sparkling sheet.  Like it was pulled across my face, and it was colorful I think?  And kind of stretched at the ends like it didn't actually go all the way around my head but just sort of became a planar flat shape.

So seeing this face and all I was very startled, and the falling upward stopped and I was just floating.  Now I don't know how else to describe this floating sensation because it was not like floating in a pool, or even the floating you feel when you are in a deep trance state but still aware of your body (that's kind of what I had felt before).  This floating was like an absolute floating?  Absolutely effortless and weightless?  And at this point I didn't seem to be body aware, that is I had no body at all?  I don't know.  I still had a strong sensation but it was not really localized.  And still I am in what feels like an infinite space with nothing visible but my face that appeared but wasn't really looking at me, like I  experienced this and then saw it from the outside?

So I get scared during this process of flying upward and seeing this face screaming and me screaming in my mind and all and the indescribably powerful sensations that accompanied this...and I realize I'm scared/excited/overwhelmed/in awe and I try to calm myself down but in doing so I am suddenly back and body conscious again – this energy feeling, like radiating vibrating is still really strong in me (not as strong as when I'm flying upward) and I decide that I want to remember or need to remember this, although I think I tried to raise up again.  I sort of lost my focus when I tried to calm myself down.  Anyhow I opened my physical eyes at some point and was completely awake and still feeling really strong sensations, which after a few minutes faded into deep tingling and then I decided to try and move and with a little effort I was able to move my hand then arm and I was kind of in shock – excitement.  So does anyone have an explanation?

When I shot upwards I really really felt like I was somewhere else, and when I was floating I felt like I was really floating.  Infact I think I tried to kind of tilt downwards to test and see if I could feel the bed and I couldn't – I'm not sure.  But I was extremely stimulated and extremely vivid / awake.  Enough that I could think of raising my energetic state and moving upwards but not enough to realize where I was or where my body was.

So this whole event must have lasted only 15 seconds?  I don't know it seemed longer but short at the same time, I don't know how to explain.  I would appreciate any insights, comments, feedback, tips, etc from people that have experienced these OBE's so I can sort of cross reference my experience.  Thanks!

Sorry for the length.  I cut out the dream part but I really had to have all of this I think.

So, in direct reference to what you haev mentioined:

"I could feel my body was a little sluggish and shaky"
"...and when I woke up I felt strong vibrations."

I felt this way afterwards too.   I was awake with my eyes open and closing with still very powerful energetic sensations.  But I never really saw anything in this experience other than what I think is my face?

Yeah I think the exit part and re-entry physical reactions are pretty much the same for all people. They may varie in intesity,  but I think thay aply under some kind of astral/physcal law. Having people comparing their stories like this is a good way of mapping this laws. Having vibrations after waking up must mean that something spesial must have happened like an OBE. And remeber that when you feel those vibrations, you can use them to have more OBE's. Its like the motor is running. All you have to do is release the breaks and floor the pedal. But this can also cause you to forget your recent OBE, so take notes.

fURIX,

This kind of experience is a very common early projection. I had it, and so did a lot of other people. You feel entry and/or exit sensations and your experience looks and feels like an OBE. Only when you wake up, do you question it. I believe this is what happens when you have a low amount of energy, but just enough to project and feel the sensations. Everything else is created by your mind. It's common for you to visualise that you're in your room, because that's where you expect to be. But since you don't have enough energy to see the world around you, your mind makes up for it and your thoughts become images formed right before your eyes, much like thoughts become images in the astral plane.

This will lead to more, similar projections and eventually your first Real-Time outing, which will probably come out of a dream. Congratulations!

You might want to ask Frank about this (message him and ask him to come by this topic). We had this discussion awhile back and I know he was very knowledgeable on the topic. It's a topic that should be discussed more often here on Astral Pulse.

Well, I've had about 9 or 10 OBE's the last two months. And the exit/re-entry-sensations has always been the same. Only diffrent in intesity. I've ended up alot of diffrent places. To end up in my room is relativily rare to me. I usualy end up downtown or somewhere else. I dont know if I've been in the planes. The places I've been to look very real and correct compared to what they are suposed to resemble(if it is all in my mind). The last one that i described was extremly vivid, but there was alot of things that did'nt make sence. Robert Bruce writes about reality fluctuations in houses, and that left-right up-down oriantation might get twisted, because of sudden change of viewpoints. But I dont think that  is the  case with this one.  Hmm tricky...

I think the dream is as important to all this as the entry/exit experience. I would like to hear the dream you had with your experience dedeburn.

I had an experience similar to yours fURIX about the going into town thing. My starting point was on one road and traveling to another road (much like a car goes but without the car, and in the air). The starting point was where I had seen a few days before (in the real) a motorcyclist get hit
by a truck. The impact of the truck on the motorcyclist was very odd. While the motorcyclist was airborne from the jolt of getting hit, he was like a mass of dark dots (like a colorless gray). Upon arrival to the scene (several yards ahead) the kid had no obvious injuries(though he may have been from the amount of pain he was in).
The end of the what seemed to be this astral travel experience ended at this bi-lane highway with flashing lights. It was as if I stopped at this point because this blockage in the road.A voice very clearly said Christmas Day. I'm trying to see a pattern develop in all this, so far, no patterns. It's kinda of difficult to explain.

I also had a very real dream a couple of years ago. This dream figure flicked me out of this dream with a hand motion. I could feel myself leave the dream realm and re-enter onto my bed. I don't think I left my body behind while in this dream place. Very weird.  In the dream I had the impression from this guy I wasn't suppose to be there.

fURIX

Yeah its a shame I cant remeber my dream before it happened, I only remeber small bits.  I do remeber the dream before one of my first OBE's:

I was walking downtown. Sudernly I hear someone calling for me. I turn to the right where I heard the sound comming from, and there I se a shadowy person standing about 200 meters away from me. And then I hear someone is comming up behind me. So I start walking again. I can hear the footsteps behind me comming closer and closer. Finaly he was going to pass me, and at that point I knew he was bad luck(actualy he was'nt), but I kept walking. And then he pased me and kept walking like he was in a rush. Sudernly he turns and push me with great force. In a split second I tried to se his face but it was blured out. anyway the push lifted me off the ground. Then sudernly I woke up and It got all dark and I was falling trough this void. When I got out I was flying downtown. When I got back witch I soon did I was completely paralyzed.

That same morning I had several OBE's. That made me hooked http://www.astralpulse.com/forums/images/icon_Smile.gif" border=0>

Can you obe in your sleep? Can you dream in your obe? I think as you have a few obe's you start dreaming about them too. Somehow the ideas of awareness and focus go out the window (kinda obe pun you know) because the last obe I had was like a dream - had vibrations, went out, but it was in the pasture by where I grew up, flew through and felt the sensation of going through leaves, woke as I came back to my body but realized I either had a obe in the past or  was overwhelmed by dream imagery. Maybe our definition of 'real' needs to be thought about  some more.

I believe that if you wake up after a suposed OBE and you might be paralized or feeling strong or some re-entry sensations, something unusual has happened like an OBE. However there might be a posibility that you might OBE without your mind being fully awake. That you are actually having an OBE but your mind and subconscious-mind are just playing along with it as if it was a dream. I would also asume that this will lead to extreme reality-fluctuations. Usually the strong exit-sensations would wake up the sleeper but sometimes they're not so strong, and if the sleeper is quite used to these feelings he might not be as alarmed by it as he would otherwise. It is very important that when you have OBE's that you have certain keywords or points to check if you are realy awake.

That's interesting fULIX, your dream of getting pushed out of the dream was similar to mine. I too felt like this old guy was a "shadow" figure. I couldn't tell if he was good or bad (probably) good.
Interesting trip to waking up.I've not heard of the tunnel or void experience during waking up time. I read more about dreams than I do about obe. I've had a few interesting waking up experiences. The weirdness of it, is what makes me think that I obe in my sleep. On several occasions I have taken trips outside my house, I go around to my window where I'm sleeping and tap on the window and wake myself up, kinda like playing a game I guess. Once I caught onto it, it stopped. Another time I woke up but hadn't opened my eyes yet, I had no memory of who I was until I opened my eyes and then thought, oh yeh(now I remember). And more weird stuff like that. I wonder if this goes along with obe while sleeping?

ralphm

It seems like for every 'classic' obe you get there is a few truely weird trips thrown in, just for fun.

Sadly I tried to hold onto the experience when I woke up but the dream part faded VERY quickly.  It ceased to make sense, became symbols that I couldn't understand and then faded away...all I have left are a few still image memories and the overwhelming sensation that I was learning a lot and that it was important to my development.

Some of it was primal imagery, it was dark, others were present.  I was listening to someone.  There were many going one direction, crowded.  I was caged?  I was freed and I saw someone else caged.  I reached out my hand to help them.  At this point I seemed to become self aware, and suddenly I was aware of myself lying on my back in empty space... which leads to the rest of my description.

fURIX

Last night I had what seemed to be a normal sleep-induced OBE. But when I woke up it raised a few questions. Here is what happend: I remeber I dreamt something about OBE's and that I was talking to someone about it, or something. Next thing I know is that I feel vibrations, heart poundig & drifting sensations. Then suddernly Im out. The vision was extremily clear. I remeber saing to myself "yeah, this is more real than reality". I was flying just under the celing of something that at first seem to be my bedroom, and started to spin around the roof-lamp. I did'nt stay out for long, cause I knew I had to get back in order to remeber, so I got back. I got got back by simply opening my REAL eyes (a little too simple?) and when I woke up I felt strong vibrations. This may have been my astral-double returning. I could feel my body was a little sluggish and shaky. Just like it would physicly after heavy exit sansations.

The point is when I think about it, it was NOT my bedroom. When I though about it right after returning, it did'nt realy look like it at all. And I did'nt even think about looking at my hands to see if they melt, wich would be the first thing I'll think about if I was realy awake. So was I realy awake? Was it all in my mind? It could'nt all have been just a joke, because of the physical sensations when I woke up for real.

Can you OBE in your sleep??? And where the hell was I???
