On my way back last night from a client, at 1AM or so, I had a rather odd experience.
I was doing around 190kays on the highway. Yes, was pretty eager to get home! :| :-D
Suddenly, without any conscious intent, my awareness expanded and I seemed to be part of the fabric of the car. I could see everything and feel everything going on in the car, mechanically and electrically. And then everything seemed to fly apart, or wrenched apart. I could see detailed parts of the car I couldn't even name. Almost like an exploded view an engineer would use to ... display a car in a meeting.
No, I was not on drugs of any sort.
After this, exploded car viewpoint, I was suddenly flying behind the car and I could sense that I needed to switch lanes. And quickly.
I was still aware of myself sitting behind the wheel as well and so I moved over to the next lane.
Lo and behold there was a truck parked in the fast lane. No lights on it, no warning cones, nothing. A nasty accident waiting to happen.
I probably would not have hit the truck despite the speed I was going at, but you never know. I slowed down and pulled over to compose myself. My whole body was tingling as everything returned to normal.
Pretty odd... a projection mixed with precognition? I have never projected like this before, if that was even what it was.
Highly interesting. :-D
Wow!
yeah, that's insane! Good one.
Would make a great scene for special Fx animation.
Thats pretty cool man, sometimes I have noticed different states of awareness while driving on the highway. I think the mind wanders so much when it gets bored that it finds things to do. Your experience could be likened to a peak experience. I think its awesome how you avoided an accident also. I guess things happen for a reason huh?

I've heard a few stories very similar to that, one by a poster here a few months ago:

Another by a girl I knew in high school before I'd even heard of OBE's. She described something to me exactly like that, and she didn't know of them either.
A few years later I had an experience as a passenger in a car. I was in the middle of talking and all of the sudden it's like I was outside of myself, hearing myself talk. It was weird, like when you hear your own recorded voice. I was talking, conscious of what I was saying, and also listening and thinking "I'm listening to myself talk". It lasted about 30 seconds.

Yeah, things def does happen for a reason.
Funny thing is, I was in a new car, going at a decent speed and I was concentrating on the dynamics of the car.... so I was not bored at all.
I am looking for schematics of the car to see if what I saw can be verified. I can't remember too much detail of what I saw in that exploded view, but maybe I can recognize some part that I know I could not have seen or known about before.

Yeah, remember that post.
I have had those "I'm listening to myself talk" moments also... but not in a car.
My experience must also have been about 30 seconds. Though my sense of time during that exploded view was weird. It might have been longer for all I know.
I recently found some part schematics for the car through a friend. Recognize some of the BM's parts, but not all. I am no mechanic. Memory failure or it was not real, I dunno anymore. I felt pretty real. :|
Tried inducing the state I was in at will, but so far I was unsuccessful. Being a bit apprehensive about not having your full attention on the road does not help. Trying to go into a trance state while driving is obviously not healthy.
Thing is, I remember being in control. It was like my mind was split in two equally capable parts. I do not know how to induce that at will either. :|
So yeah, disappointment all round. Ah well, it was still a very interesting experience.
What a weird experience
