There are such stories to express all kinds of beliefs. This is probably just that, a story. I personally do not believe in a devil, and beliefs seem to be a big influence in the astral. If you believe in a devil you will probably meet a devil.

I seriously doubt that your friend saw any kind of devil. If he thought that the man was evil then the voice could have been molded to his beliefs. He should question the situation with an open mind and search for the truth. The truth I have found is that the devil is a symbol of the "evil" that man sees as negative and has evolved into an enity because people see this symbol as such.

The first story rings of fear-based, fundamentalist propaganda (i.e. a little fear sermon to keep the lambs on the path).

If your friend were to accept the first account, then it would likely color his beliefs regarding the NDE.  Maybe the old man in the NDE was a helpful guide or a passed relative not recognized.  Viewed with his devil belief system, it might tend to color what he experienced and an opportunity for learning is lost.

ya know, if lucifer (satan) does exist, then he would be a REALLY old angel. it might be that people sense his age and then their subconscious makes them think he is an old man. never met him before though, although i, personally, would really love to have a shot at fighting lucifer if he does exist.

also, if there are angels and fallen angels then, as described in the bible, they have the ability to change their appearance. and fallnangel77, who says that demons only exist in the astral? cause, yeah if in the astral you believe something to exist, then by your own thoughtform it will exist. however, the two stories have to do with the real world and an oobe in the real world; nothing to do with the astral.

I have, on many occasions, heard stories of an "old man" entity who is the eptiome of evil (ie. satan).

I shall briefly share one such story:  
Two young men, CHristian missionaries, were in a small town in either South America or Europe (I cannot recall).  Anyway, they are having phenomenal success and has helped out many individuals.  They did charity work gave blessings, healed, etc  At some point they declared, in effect, "We are no longer able to be tempted by the dark side.  We are beyond the powers of the evil one.  We dare satan to try anything he can against us...".  In other words they became very prideful and arrogant.

One day they met an old man on the street and he told them who would like to meet with them and start discussing Christianity with them.  They set up a meeting and about a week later they went to meet him.  They went to a lonely street in a desolate part of town and found a sharp looking man in a black suit waiting for them in the exact spot where they had promised to meet the old man.  They approached the man and then were filled with a dreadful feeling.  Something was definetly wrong and when the man's eyes met theirs they were filled with an inexplicable feeling.  The man looking through them and declared, "Don't you EVER tempt the powers of evil!  IF YOU DO YOU SHALL BE DESTROYED!"  At this the man turned and walked away and they did too.  When they looked back, they saw, instead of the sharply dressed man, an old man...limping along the street where they had just come from.

I also have a friend who, during heart surgery, had a near death experience.  While looking down at his body he saw an old man standing near his bed looking at his physical body.  He wondered "Is that an old man or is that the devil" and a voice from above, with authority, declared "That is old man death, that is the devil".  

What do you think about this old man entity???
