So I've had a few experiences so far with "seeing through my eyelids". The problem is, each time this happens I'm in the half awake half asleep zone (good for projecting, bad for telling if things are real or not).

I was listing to Monroe tapes but not actively participating in them. I was tired from waking up to early 3 days in a row and was taking a nap. I was asleep, but each time Monroe's voice would kind of wake me up (or get me lucid) so I could think consciously again. I'm pretty sure i could see through my eye lids. Also, each time i tried to project i would move a body part (not my real body part) and think that i had moved my physical body and figured i wasn't in sleep paralysis and gave up. Only after i woke up did i realize i had not moved my physical body.

to make this a bit shorter, my question is, how do you get to the altered state of mind needed for projection while still maintaining a more "intelligent" consciousness. I have gotten to this level 3 or 4 times but was never "smart" enough to get out.

I appreciate any input.

I've noticed that since I have been keeping record of my dreams I am much more aware of happenings. Maybe this could help you out if you don't do so already.
"The joy of life consists in the exercise of one's energies, continual growth, constant change, the enjoyment of every new experience. To stop means simply to die. The eternal mistake of mankind is to set up an attainable ideal."

Your basucally there. Sounds like you are in your astral body quite a bit when you are in that state. Try sitting up and walking away from you bed, if you are in your astral body, the chances are you will find this difficult and feel as if you are being pulled back to your physical body, but if you keep trying you will get there.
