About 2 months ago I went to some thing with a few of my relatives and at this time I had been reading a book on OBEs for about a week or two. One night in the cabin I was staying in I was trying to relax and imagining myself being out of my body (that's what the book suggested for me to do.. Please correct me if I'm wrong) and suddenly I felt as if I were floating and I saw my dad downstairs watching tv. Did I have an OBE or was I dreaming??? It felt real and extremely enjoyable. But, much to my dismay, my cell phone rang and it all ended... And since then I haven't had an experience like that, nor have I came close. But I'm determined so every night I do as the book I have says... Any thoughts?

It's hard for someone else to tell you whether you were having an OBE or dreaming.  But the words I've highlighted might give you a clue.  Something else which I find helps - think about the experience right now as you are reading these words - does is still feel real?  Dreams tend to fade over time, whereas OBEs stay in the mind indefinitely.

A lesson to be learned.  When practicing - turn everything off!

Generally speaking, it takes some time between your first OBE and your second, due to the expectation and excitement.  As soon as you reach the point where you think, "oh bother, this ain't gonna happen to me again," and you give it all up, it'll happen.  It was a month between mine - that was one of the longest months of my life!!
