Hi pulse community! I've been lurking the site for a while now and finally had a noteworthy experience I figured I'd share and get input on.
Ive been attempting to astral project for about a week now. I'd heard of out of body experiences but never really thought it was something you could do at will. (just during surgery or death and things like that)..
I actually watched the movie insidious for a second time with my friend and he told me how his dad had take. Courses back in the 70s and used to astral project and tell him about it. Mind you, I didn't at all think insidious was accurate of the types of things that happen when you go to the astral or I would never have attempted it. Ha. Though I have had issues with some shadowy thing following me around .. In my dreams, my room at night, and even during the day. I can feel its presence. Since I stopped being interested in things like paganism and invoking and evoking it had since left me alone. Now the first time I tried to astral project 2 nights ago I got to a very relaxed state and felt something touching my arm.. Then it felt like someone grabbed it and lifted it a little. I began to feel the same uneasyness of this presence as before.( the first encounter I had with it years ago it was next to me in the middle of The night speaking some odd language that didn't sound current.) I heard something move in my room and my relaxation stopped immediately as my eyes flew open.
The second time I merely just tried to meditate with my eyes open. This was during the day yesterday. I was able to forget about my body and my eyesight was pulsing all sorts of glowy stuff. I stopped then as I wasn't getting anywhere.
The third and most recent time was last night. I used binaural beats and was able to forget about my body once more. Then I felt the vibrations.. Like an earthquake.. My eyes weren't moving but focusing into the darkness made it seem like they were darting everywhere. My body was overwhelmed. Almost painful burning energy. Then it felt like my body wasn't my body.. The energy burning was burning through this mass of me that hadn't no particular shape. The more I relaxed into the vibrations the stronger they got. I couldn't slow my breathing though., I wasn't excited I wasn't scared. I just couldn't breathe well for some reason. Then it faded and I decided to take a break there. Was I close? It certainly felt like nothing I'd ever felt before,
The main reason I became interested in astral travel was actually because my boyfriend of a year and a half was going to school with me. Now I can no longer afford that university so he will always be 3 to 4 hours away. I want to be able to visit him. But I also want to see the world... And talk to entities in the astral. So my boyfriend has also been attempting this.  He is getting frustrated I see, though, because he hasnt gotten anywhere with it. I told him to be patient as it could take much longer than he thinks. I told him just to relax. Though I'm not very experienced I've been researching this obsessively now. I admit at first I was a bit of a skeptic as it was difficult to believe these things could really happen. But after even just my first attemp my mind shot wide open and I was ready for anything. Does anyone have suggestions for my bf, Akira? My method last night was relaxing with binaural beats. Focusing on the black in front of my vision and with inhale imagine white light fill from my feet to my head and exhale purple fire from my head to my feet. Then I just relaxed into whatever happened and it intensitified. Thanks in advance pulse community I can't wait to actually leave my body and start a new journey elsewhere.

Hi and welcome to the Pulse.
You both could read a book. Id start with a search for ,SOBT.PDF, its easy to find and free.
This will educate both of you and put things into perspective.
There's far more where the eye can't see.
Close your eyes and open your mind.

Hi, and welcome to the pulse :)

I don't want to discourage you. But the chances of you and the boyfriend meeting up in the astral and having full on conscious time together is quite slim. I wouldnt say its impossible, but its going to take some serious work on both of you to do that.  If that is your only reason to project, then i might suggest you instead use the time to figure a way so you can both meet physically more often.

However, it does sound like you are making some great progress. It really is baby steps with this type of thing.  The motions you feel at first overwhelm you, and its that excitement which holds you back. But the more you can get to that state, the more you can feel relaxed in it and know what it is. This keeps the adrenaline down and allows you to progress further and further.  Lots of time and patience is required.

I'm a little worried about this black entity of yours that you mentioned. My advice would be to try and forget about this thing. I have no idea what it is.  One thing to remember, if you do come across it. It can not physically harm you. Show it no fear.  It could be a part of you, it could be another entity. I have no idea. Some people imagine themselves shielded with white light to ward off any negatives in the astral. If you are worried about this thing coming back. Then surround yourself with white light. That will keep it away.

Good luck and keep posting letting us know how youre getting on!

Thank you so much for the response! Though it is most definitely not my ONLY reason to be astral projecting. I want to see the world. I'm so interested in meeting, associating, and exploring things in the astral, and I have been very connected with feelings that I didn't know I had for as long as I can remember. I feel that these things come easily to me and I plan to take advantage of that fact. I've read quite a few stories of people at least being able to visit someone in real time. being opened up to a new world is amazing, but being able to spend more time with my faraway love is icing on this giant wedding cake :3

It's difficult to tell you what you experienced, you know?  We can do our best based on our collective experiences, but projection, phasing, lucid dreaming, etc., is different for everyone.  There are some commonalities, but on the whole, I think that the mental actions necessary to achieve conscious projection of your consciousness can't be taught.  It's something you ultimately have to learn on your own, but there is guidance out there and we try to help as much as possible.

For example, I don't feel the strong earthquake vibrations that a lot of people and authors describe as "essential" to the experience.  When I exit my body (I project in the "traditional" sense of exiting the body as opposed to phasing where you mentally move yourself into another realm without having the "exit sensation") I feel a very fine vibration, very intense but acute, not big like a rumble but more like full body pins & needles.  The point is, its difficult to say if you experienced something near projection or if you just felt energy moving in your body.

But, you say you pick up quick and you've been researching obsessively, and you may be one of those "lucky ones" that takes to it easily.  Took me about 2 years of off and on practice, research and experimentation.  Then, even after I was successful, I had difficulties in maintaining projection for any length of time and some other things.  So, like your boyfriend, I got frustrated and I quit for a while.  That was two years ago.  I just started again recently and it all came back very quick, but I'm still in the same place and have to put in more work.  So I'm one of the "unlucky" ones in a sense.  It doesn't come as easily for me.

However, theoretically I know pretty much everything about projection from almost any perspective you could imagine, from the traditional occult theories to the shamanic and indigenous practices and more.  So I hope I can be of assistance theoretically, but like I said, in the end, what I've learned to be paramount is the subjective nature of the experience.  Experimentation and self-discovery is essential in the process and you seem to have the spirit for that, so keep at it.  Keep the mystery and fantasy about it fresh, it keeps your intent and will strong, which will really help you.

Ultimately, my best words of wisdom are, don't be afraid of anything, don't be superstitious, you are a strong being that is untouchable as long as you believe you are always safe, that's all the protection you need.  This is your show, you run it; believe that and everything will be great.  Good luck, and I hope we can help.
be awesome.
