Hi,
Any emotions that are strong usually have this effect. The trick is to stay calm and accept what you find with the thought its quite normal and nothing to get ecstatic about.
This takes practice, its worth it in the end.
You'll get used to it anyway, eventually that is..
Another great help is to get away from your physical by at lest 40 feet (10 metres) or so. Too many stay too close and end up waking up as the physical drags them back in.
There's far more where the eye can't see.
Close your eyes and open your mind.

If you wake up into sleep paralysis, you're technically still projecting.

Just relax, calm down, and allow yourself to drift back into a more active projecting state.  :)

I feel your frustration. If I get too close, I'm back in and if I go too far, I seem to drift off into a dream state. Not too long ago, I actually made it out the front door. I went through it and on the other side, my woods outside were not how they are now, it was more tropical with very broad leafed plants growing. My astral self said or I was thinking / realizing that what I was looking at was the pre-ambrian era. Then, I didn't remebrr the rest, it became a dream. I looked it up online the pre ambrian and came the closest with precambrian, which was 280 million years ago. Now how I got there just by pushing through my front door, ill never know. Keep up with it, ill do the same.

When you feel the projection start to get week, use the deepening technique.

It is simply imagining yourself rubbing your two hands together, creating friction.

For one reason or another this helps stabilize the projection.

I personally feel it is because of the metaphysical imagery, alongside the existing phenomenon, heat friction.

thanks for the replies its taken 20 years off pratice to no longer need to try new methods to project and project at will in the wright state.
now i just need to stay there lol ill try the hands rubbing thing to night.how long to visulise i meditate  on control for a full  half an hour.

You do it for only a couple seconds, or what feels to be a couple seconds,  :-P

You'll see, it works pretty quickly.

Remember, you have to train yourself to not think about the elephant, when someone says, don't think about the elephant. Even imagining the elephant for a second makes it intended.

The elephant of course being the physical plane.

Just rub your imaginary hands together and feel that imaginary heat.

The thing that works for me is focusing my eyes. Getting my astral vision in working order is the first thing I try to do after I exit. I usually start my taking little peeps about with my eyes to clear the dream fog away. This somehow deepens the trance and grounds me to the astral plane.

I've always had problems with my astral vision. However, I met an angelic being in one of my travels and he did something to my eyes. Cleaned them or gave me a healing or something. And since then I've had really clear eye sight.

If you can get really clear eye sight I think you can stay in the astral for longer. But that might just be me.  :-)
