My guides and other spirits have told me that the silver cord is quite safe. You don't need to worry about it. Whenever I see it I feel it is like a very maleable yet unbreakable metal, you can move and move it put it won't break.
I've tear it a couple of times to free myself from the body. At the first time it was an automatic (and somewhat familiar) movement of my arm. Due to the fear about the consequences, I've waked up instantly. At the other 3-4 occasions it was deliberate. All those cables was attached to my solar plexus regio.
Also, I've experienced the natural termination of an another cable type which used to connect to my neck. They seems to cease very quickly when an etheric projection takes a dreamy turn (can be breaked too). I've only abstain from breaking those cables which are connected to my hearth.
Although no health effects are observed, the smashing times are over. Not only I'm more cautious about the possible implications, but also my projections are shifted from being etheric as well. I've never seen the silver cord in my astral projections and at these times I don't believe it exists.
About the whole cord thing, from my experiences, which are similar to upstreams in that regard, the actual cord it self is quite thick, how ever, the mystery lays in the smaller cords that are quite a few of them, I have broken them and heard snapping sounds as I did. Also quite a while ago, I gently tugged the cord (please no juvenile jokes lol) on the back of my head, which made quite an unpleasant electrical like feeling in my astral head, the following few days after the back of my head was quite sore.
