Slightly Disturbing LD's or OBE's...

I have to admit, I do like weapons very much.  I own several firearms, know a lot about them, and play airsoft/paintball.  But several of my recent LD's/OBE's (I can't tell which because I had complete control and they were exceptionally vivid) have been disturbing and have involved me dying a brutal death.  Here are three that I will recount.

1)  (Note, at the time I had no clue that this was a dream.  Only after I came back to my body did I realize that it wasn't "real")  In the middle of the night, around 1 AM, I woke up for some reason.  Immeadietly I heard two supressed pistol gunshots coming from downstairs.  I sat bolt upright in bed and grabbed the only remaining 12-gauge shell that I had left (I had it in my pocket when I was at the shooting range and forgot that I had it).  I then dashed into my mom's room for my shotgun, loaded the shell, and pumped the shotgun.  By now I heard men stomping into the house.  I ran downstairs and into the family room (The gunshots came from the back room where the kitchen was) and into the dining room where I saw a reflection in the mirror of a man holding a shotgun.  I leaned around the corner and fired my only shot at him.  It hit and killed him, but another man with an MP-40 (German submachine gun) raised it, ready to fire.  I beat him over the head with the butt of my shotgun, grabbed his gun, and fired at the third man.  There was one invader still alive.  Both him and I raised our weapons and fired at the same time.  I remember a searing pain rush through my skull, then I woke up in my bed, thankfully, safe and sound.

2)  (This one I can't remember the details, so bear with me.)  I remember that, in my LD, I was cleaning my room when I heard the front door bust open and men rush in (three of them).  I immeadetly ran into my mom's room and grabbed my P22 pistol, jammed a magazine into it, and cocked the slide.  I ran out to the hallway looking down the staircase and saw a man holding a pistol (I can't remember what kind).  I raised my weapon and fired two rounds.  He fell down the stairs, dead.  The second of four men came running up the stairs with a sub-machine gun (Once again, I can't remember what kind) and fired a short burst at me.  I ducked around the corner as bullets tore through the wall.  I leaned out again and tried to fire two rounds, but it jammed after the first.  He fell to the ground, injured.  A third person ran at me with a Remington shotgun as I tried to unjam the slide.  "Screw it," I thought as I beat him over the head with the pistol, knocking him out.  The last person ran up the stairs as I retreated into my room.  I jammed a fresh magazine home, finally unjammed the slide.  He burst through the door, a Smith and Wessen .500 Magnum Revolver in hand.  He fired a single round into my head, killing me.  I woke up in bed, scared senseless.

3)  (This one rivals the first one in disturbing level because of how vivid it was.)  My friend was over at my house and there had been a report of an escaped murderer from the local prison.  We were carrying a box of some sort up from the basement into my room on the second floor, when the front door burst open (we were already in my room).  There was a mad yelling as the murderer dashed up the stairs.  My friend and I ran into my mom's room to grab my pistol.  We locked the door, trapping him in the hallway (the doors are pieces of crap, they are really flimsy) so he starts to bang on the door.  We grab my P22 and a handfull of ammo, trying to load several rounds into the magazine.  Suddenly a machete jammed through the door.  It retracted and was forced through again.  After this happened two more times, he kicked down the door.  I struggled to load the pistol, but it was too late.  He jumped on top of me and repeatedly jammed the knife into my chest.  I woke up half a second later, with a searing pain in my chest.  It fealt exactly as if I had been stabbed.

Does anyone have any ideas on why these extremely vivid lucid dreams are occurring?  Thanks.

Idk, but It seems like it happens when u get to ur room.

What do you mean?  I am trying to get to my weapons so I can defend myself from the madmen trying to kill me.

You answered your own question in the first line of your post.

Quotehave to admit, I do like weapons very much. I own several firearms, know a lot about them, and play airsoft/paintball.
More often than not you are going to experience exactly what you are thinking a lot about.  Guns.  The fact that you play paintball probably has a lot to do with it too.

You have bought these weapons to protect yourself... But what is your biggest fear? Is it the people invading your home, or is it the fact that one day you might be forced to use these weapons in your home?

Anyone would be afraid of turning their house into a murder scene... We all know one day we might end up being attacked or stolen from, and we take measures to prevent it from happening, such as putting locks and alarms on our house.

But if it does happen despites the security measures, you'll have to take an extra step, which is to manually remove the intruders.

Do you feel ready?

Perhaps these dreams reflect those fears, and you are conditioning yourself, preparing yourself for the day it will happen. If it ever does come, that is.

Yeah, it sounds like nightmares stemming from your association with guns. I used to have dreams like that after playing hours of Doom or other FPS games.

Yep I second that, you have some issues with guns. However often a fixation with guns stems from a problem with fear. Though folks who admire the stereotype gunslinger will rarely admit it, fear is a very prominent factor in their lives. Guns often seem symptomatic of those who are trying to hide the fact that they are scared of what guns can do.......fear of death.

Thats funny you should talk about that, in my weed smoking days, i used to play BF2 for hours on end stoned off my face, then i'd go to sleep and have a real vivid war dream, and i can completely relate to the feeling of being killed.

I tried a little experiment where i played Oblivion instead, whilst stoned and ended up having a dream about being a medi-evil knight in a war. which was an amazing experiance btw, till i died of course (axe in the back)

so, i thought how bout when i go to bed tonight, i'll think about something other than war, or fighting. And i still dreamed about another war scene, this time WWII.

I then realised that although they can be frightening and startling experiance, i did quite enjoy being able to be in that position without the real risk of death. im not saying you enjoy being shot with a magnum, but im just saying there may be a part of you that wants to keep facing these intruders until maybe you win?

Haha, I had Oblivion dreams too!

I would be in a "normal" dream with people I know in real life, and out of nowhere I'd find a sword on the floor, put it in my pocket (without hurting myself) and carry on with the dream as if nothing happened!

Also, a lot of the hypnogogic imagery I got were doors from the game, but oddly enough, they were mostly the satanist looking doors from the Oblivion plane's towers rather than those from the villages :O It's too bad I wasn't able to keep them there long enough to walk through them...

haha, yeh man my dream about Oblivion was crazy. I started off in the forest and i could see Imperial City's huge tower, when i saw an Imperial Guard ride accross on a horse, all i could think about was how cool his horse was, so i pulled out a bow and arrow (this is Oblivion after all) and shot him in the back.

I rode off on his horse over a mound, only to find myself in a very similar scene to the Braveheart battles, all of our soldiers, facing all of their soldiers, a wave of arrows rained on us and we blocked with our shields, until there was a crazy roar and we all charged forward, me still on the horse with my Imperial sword and shield :D

man, it was a great dream, and as sadistic as it sounds, i did enjoy killing the enemy soldiers, until i felt a horrible sensation of 'emptyness' in my back, to turn around and find one of those dam Nord people had hit an axe into my back.

I dropped, and actually watched the battle happening for a while, until everything went silent, my vision faded, and i woke up. Great dream, if i can become good enough at Lucid Dreaming, im gonna have so many war dreams., i know it

It's not that I'm scared of guns or killing.  And the true reason that I bought them is because I like to shoot (although they do add that sense of security knowing that you can unload a cartridge of buckshot into their face).  It's just that I had these dreams so close together that it was getting a little freaked out with my sub-conscience.  Thanks for your replies!

I haven't had an Oblivion dream yet, but I think it's just a matter of time ... ;)

Usually when I have dreams with guns, everyone I shoot never gets hurt or dies. It's frustrating. It's like when you're playing in grade school, and you keep telling your friend, "I shot you! Fall down!"

I've been shot and killed many times in dreams.

I think these dreams also have an educational feature about them. There's the psychological aspect that really only you can decipher, but I also think you can see your dream self developing through dreams.

For instance, people who try to run in dreams never can, or run very slowly. Some people developed a way to get past this - I jump like a kangaroo, other people I know, do handstands and run around on their hands. Some people fly.

You feel you need guns to protect yourself, and maybe your dreams are trying to show you that in the dreamworld you need to develop past this, find a new way of interacting with the dreamworld. I think that often nightmares are trying to get our attention, to teach us, or to make us become aware/lucid. Monsters keep coming so you can learn and expand.

Dreams are exciting and revealing. Keeping a dream journal is great, because you can look back on dreams, you remember more dreams. It's like you have another separate life (that's bizarre, but cool nonetheless).

mactombs, i know exactly what you mean, thats happened to me in a WWII scenario, i was fighting on the side of British, living in Britain its expected, suddenly a German ran behind into the MG Nest i was taking cover in with another soldier, i turned around and saw him, but now matter how many shots i unloaded, he kept coming at me and i got stabbed to death by his boot knife, woke pretty ticked off.

I also get it when im in a fist fight, something stops me fighting, whether its my swings going straight thru the other persons chin, or a sudden complete loss of clear vision, its dam annoying though.
