OBE with dual consciousness

Hello,

I'm reading Astral Dynamics, and it is helping me understand an experience I had last week while on a meditation retreat. Through my life I have had an occasional lucid dream or OBE, but no dual awareness like this time. It was the second day of a week long meditation retreat. I was sitting on the front row of the meditation hall doing the first early morning session of long day of meditation. I was well centered and able to see my thoughts before they fully formed. I was getting a lot of images which would form and dissolve, not unusual for me. Then a more complex image began forming. I thought it was a visual day dream and was about to let it go when I realized it was the outer room before entering the meditation hall. I watched it for a moment before realizing, hey I'm really here. I'm standing here in the outer room. I looked around and saw all the familiar displays, etc. It was identical to it's normal appearance except the lighting was darker than usual. At the same time I was experiencing being out in the outer room, I was also experiencing sitting on the mat meditating. The me that was in the outer room walked over to the meditation room door and looked into the meditation hall. I saw everyone sitting there meditating (backs to me), and there I was sitting on the front row in meditation posture. Simultaneously, I was sitting on the mat aware of me standing at the door looking at me sitting on the mat. I thought, how strange! Then my meditating self became more dominate, and my awareness returned fully to my self that was meditating. A strange experience.

HI Stephen,

Thank you and Happy Thanksgiving to all.  I had some strange happenings last PM.  I'd like some feed back, so I'll look around and see where is best to post them.

Thanks, Rudy

Sounds very interesting. I have experienced something similar once.

I was at school and I have to get up at 6 am in order to get the bus in time etc.

Now, I'm usually very sleepy when I'm at school the first hours.
This time I layed my head down on my desk and put on some music before the teacher came, thinking that I could get myself together and get some short sleep.

I started to feel very wierd and suddenly I saw the people that sat behind me for a split second. It was a vauge image but it was there. I remember moving around and then coming back and waking up (I was fully awake but still kinda sleeping, but I remember I could respond to one extent in my real body)...

I wish to learn more about this strange thing.

Cool!! Where was your meditation retreat? Like was it a thing you payed for? Was it religious? Anyways may have been the mind split. Thats sounds interesting though. I have never had a duality of consciousness episode but a lot of people have.

Yeal, first time I've ever had a dual awareness like that.  Hard to describe it because the experiences and thoughts for each me were simultaneous. But there was no confusion due to the duality, just strange.  I'm Buddhist (Kagu linage) and the retreat was part of a 6mo. course I've been participating in.  The retreat was in Colorado at the Shambhala Mountain Center (a 600 acre Tibetan retreat center). I'll be going back next mo. for a one month long winter retreat.  Be interesting to see if any of this continues.
