Title: Strange dreams? The start of a projection? Or Something else
Post by: Eloquence on May 15, 2006, 12:40:44
Hey all,
Im hoping someone can clear this up for me. Basically, the last few nights, I've been really intently attempting to project, without much success.

BUT

1. Recently, I've had a couple of weird dreams that im not so sure were dreams. In the sense that I could see them with my own eyes. Now, at first I thought it was a deffinete projection. But the thing is, I wasnt fully 'aware' of it. In the sense that I had about as much awareness as you would if you were just normally dreaming.

2. Secondly, I've also had similar experiences, where I've been trying to project, have fallen asleep and then at some point (possibly directly after) I've come awake in the sense that im mentally aware, but not physically, and have seen something through my eyes that I couldnt possibly have seen in my room. Like last night I caught a glimpse of a room with very old looking books, candles and those feather things people used to write with. But just as soon as it was there, it was gone and I woke up.

3. Thirdly, last week sometime, I woke up in the night, and realised that although I could feel my eyes firmly shut I could still see my room, and furthermore, that although I could feel myself laying down I could also feel myself sitting up.

Sorry about the long post guys! But yeah, any ideas? Tips suggestions etc.

Those seem like the symptoms of trance...

1: Very vivid dreams are common when attempting to project, since it helps you trigger memories of your nightly "adventures" -- we do have these very vivid dreams every night, I've read that the average person dreams 15 times a night, it's all a matter of memory. As you practice writing your dreams down and learn to remember, the "quality" of your dreams will be greatly heightened. In reality, the dreams are not more vivid, it's your ability to record what is happening that increases. That's a good sign!

2: This is something that has happened to me as well, except my "discrepancy" was that the room was on fire! Needless to say, that woke me right up. It's a mix of third eye vision and subconscious pollution, usually a sign that you are in trance and lost awareness of the physical body. The discrepancies seem to be a byproduct of how your brain combines hypnogogic hallucinations with third eye sight.

3: This is also third eye vision. The feeling that you are sitting up is quite common -- I usually sleep face down, but when I see through my eyelids, I see the room as if I was sitting up in bed. If you manage to maintain this state you will see that you are able to look around you at 360 degrees, and even see through walls.

If you can maintain this state you are in when you see "through your eyelids," (i.e. if it doesn't go away when you notice it) you will be in a perfect state to project. You can use the Rope Method or the "rolling out" technique at that point and leaving the body should be very easy.
