All the time...except I mostly experience this as a blackness as opposed to a grayness.  It's extremely important that when you're in this void, that you remain calm.

I still have trouble most of the time when I find myself flailing around in this void, but if I remain calm and image myself grabbing onto something...anything....then I get my bearings back and my vision slowly kicks in.

Keep smiling,

Staying calm is no problem. I always have a small sense of fear when Im in this void, but Im so used to it now, that I just try to enjoy it. And sometimes I just say to my self "Hey! Do you rather wanna get back to your body and find yourself paralazied (like I've done a few times), wich is anoying, boring and alot scarier than this, do you???" and that keeps me going. And when the wierd noise and the falling sensation stops, the environment starts to apear before me and then everything is cool and OK

Same thing happened to me when I used the Abyss Astral Projection Mp3 from this site.  It only happened when I used it but I do know what you are talking about.

I think I've had about 8 or 9 OBE's (all spontanous), and every time at the exit I get the sensation of falling into this dark "grayness". Sometimes I can sense colors like red and yellow. But what I always notice is this strange continous sound wich keeps on going and increasing in level until I'm out. Its realy hard to describe but sometimes it seems "metalic". Argh, I just wish I could sample it
I wonder what causes it...
Is there anyone else that experince this
