i believe i know what you are talking about.  about six months ago i was meditating.  i was experimenting w/ some breathing tek's that i read from some website that had to do w/ shamans.  i was trying to slow my breathing down as much as possible.  it was working very well and i was settiling into a very nice trance state.  during my early meditation practice i would frequently  end up inside an astral gateway. i made  a post about another exp i had in one of these a few days ago titled 'tubelike structures'.   i found myself inside one of these very quickly this time.  it was different from other times in the amount of time i got there and the speed in which i was moving through it.  i was taking about two full breaths a minute at this point and was amazed that i wasn't passing out.

the reaction that your body normally has to not being able to breathe (your stomach involuntarily moving in and out)  kept arising because it wanted more air.  if you've ever tried this or had an experience like this you know what it feels like.  i found a way to ignore this and slow my breathing down even more.  it took some effort but i made the spasms go away.  still inside this gateway, i saw a faint white light ahead.  it grew steadily brighter and closer.  from my experience, these gateways don't go straight for very long, their are twists and turns all of the time.  no matter what direction i was headed, this light was always there.  after about a minute or two of me trying to get to it,  i decided i wasn't able to unless i slowed my breathing down even more.

at this point i'm barely breathing, but not afraid to breathe slower.  the slower i would breathe the brighter and closer this light would get.  i slowed myself down to the point where i wasnt breathing anymore. this was probably a bad idea, for health reasons, but i decided that the worst that would happen is i would just pass out.  after about thirty seconds i found myself inside this light and as soon as i crossed the threshold, i saw the most magnificent sight i've ever seen.  it's indescribable, and trying to put it into words just takes away from it, but i'll try.

what you wrote above reminded me of it immediately.  there was a great whooshing sound and it looked like i was in this enormous tunnel made out of thousands of shades of blue, purple and white.  i'm not even sure it could be described as a tunnel because of it's  vastness.  all i could see were these beautiful colors, and was flying through them.  try and imagine star wars or something like that, when a ship goes into hyperspace.  cover almost your entire field of vision w/ more stars so that there isnt' any black.  replace all of the stars w/ these different shades of blue and purple.  in between some of the colors imagine white. imagine yourself flying through them at an incredible speed.  this is as close as i can come to a good description.

i had either lost track of or left my body. i felt like a point of consciousness.  this was before i had done any reading on anything like this and didnt have any prior input about 'us' actually being a point of consciousness,  but this was what immediately what came to mind.  i looked around and saw what looked to be other points of consciousness flying past me at even greater speeds.  they were just little balls of light.  one of them stopped next to me and i felt like it looked at me or was cking me out.  it only stayed for a second and then sped up.

the feeling that i got from this is kind of like what you described above.  it was exhilirating.  i must have reached my limit w/ not breathing because i think i passed out.  i didnt break consciousness but found myself lying instead of sitting.  the vision slowly faded and i could see the room around me through my eyelids.

i repeated this two more time w/ the same results.  the last time i believe i held my breath way longer than i was supposed to or should have because i got an awful pain my chest.  i looked down and it looked like my heart jumped out of my chest half an inch.  i actually saw a very big bulge pop out of my chest twice, very fast.  i was extremely scared and thought i was having a heart attack.  i'm not sure if this my actual heart or my etheric heart, but it scared me enough to make me stop.

the next few days i tried to tell some friends what happened but most of them are not into any of this.  i havent tried to slow my breathing down too much since then.  this was by far the most awesome experience that i've ever had.

This does indeed sound very similar. And you are right, words cannot fully describe this place, in fact they do it an injustice.
I have not ever heard of this sort of thing being written or talked about so I am sure that it did not come from my subconscious.
It was exillerating, and I did not want to come back. Sort of like the feeling you get when you have found the place where you want to spend your life and then know that you have to go back.

I in fact asked my guides if they showed this to me and they say that they did, and the explanation that I needed to hear was that I have to realise that "I am just a drop in the ocean and also the ocean is just a drop in me".
More profound thinking (that I do enjoy) that I will have to meditate over.

Thanks for the reply.

I had a somewhat similar experience just the other night, I was sleeping in bed next to my wife, and I sensed a very bright star-like ball start to appear in the corner of the room, it got bigger and bigger and brighter and brighter, filling the whole room, and surging my body with an intense energy as it grew.  My wife woke me up because I was panting so hard.

HI Spike and Fredhedd,
This is why I like reading these forums, it is quite helpful to see that others are experiencing similar experiences to what I have. Often while in meditations I progress to the tunnel of violet, dark blue, and white light, all swirling and converging to a point of exit into a starscape. I seem to experience this with higher realm OBEs. I have read that it is the Crown Chakra opening that allows this activity. I would like to know if anyone else can confirm this?

I just have a question. Does this type of thing happen to many of you when you meditate? I am just starting to learn meditation skills for the first time, and I'm quite eager for my meditation to be a kind of respite from such things! I need a rest! Not only from the noise of my mind and the physical world, but also from the intense learning curve that's going on with my AP - With all the impressions and experiences coming down on me the last few months, I am really feeling a need for total stillness. Is there a difference between meditation and preparing for an OBE?

Meg- I have had periods of meditation where there was lots of energy movement and other times of extreme calm and quiet. My theory is that the intense ones are clearing pathways, and I think the clearing work is speeding up.

In the world in general and in this nation
May not even the names disease, famine, war, and suffering be heard.
May virtuous qualities, merit, and prosperity greatly increase
And may continuous good fortune and subline well-being perfectly arise.

Hi Meg,
I think it is where we turn our attention during meditation. I have often gone "inside" myself to a room I have prepared there for my Higher Self. We sit quietly together often, me just drawing strength from the quiet. Using immigination, any quiet place can be created, a park, a forest, a pond.....

Or just laying in a warn bath listening to Hemi- or Holo- Sync can be the quiet spot.

Sorry it's taken me so long to reply to this post, I have been on my holidays to my favourite place in the world, Greece. Ho hum, back to the freezing UK.
Well Hello and thanks to all that have replied.

In reference to the quiet type of meditation that you require, it is all to do with your focus. When I wish to 'see' or 'hear' things in my meditations, I will ask for it to occur. But if I wish to silence everything, then I will just concentrate on my breathing, or imagine myself in an empty void of blackness, no sound, feature or anything at all.

I hope that this helps you.

This is not strictly an OBE but I wasn't sure where to post it....

Last night I had the strangest vision. I awoke after about 2 hours sleep and felt very awake. I closed my eyes and immediately saw what looked like space (outer space not empty space). Millions of little sparks all around a great emptiness, just like stars in the night sky, except they were moving consciousness's, some moving extremely rapidly like a shooting star and then stopping again at their destinations, but there were so many that it looked like the milky way. It was breathtaking! And I felt as though I was witnessing some amazing part of our destination.
The feeling I had was one of great belonging and I could have stayed in this scene for ever.
I then became aware of my body and I noticed that I was just the shell of my physical self. I was only the outer skin, and inside was many millions of these galaxies of consciousness's. The instant that I realised this I felt extremely large and, to be honest, it was starting to get mind blowing.

This was an extremely profound experience which has made a massive impression on me and I will have to meditate on it some more to try to understand it fully.
But if anyone has seen anything like this before, I would be most interested to hear.

Cheers,
Rich
