I watched a youtube video about astral projection using the third eye and using a candle to find the third eye. basically i stared at a candel for 10 minutes then closed my eyes and "moved toward" the red/blue impression it left in what i assume as my third eye. In about 40 minutes i found myself "looking" at a star filled field that was much darker than just my closed eyes would normally make it, however i was quite aware that my physical body was in bed and i had to struggle to keep my eyes closed. at one point my body felt like it was extremely light and felt like it was hovering an inch above my physical body which i could no longer feel. there was quiet white noise on occasion and i could clearly hear everything in the room. This whole time my mind was very awake and i knew where my physical body was, i simply could not feel it. I tried this a few days later and ended up in te same starry field but i think i saw some distant black figures that were moving really weird. I wasn't close enough to be able to tell what they were exactly but they looked kind of human. This last attempt was during the day and took about an hour to reach but i felt my eyelids the whole time which was distracting to the extreme. My question is was that the start of an astral projection? also when is the best time to attempt projection? thanks for taking the time to read this :)

There is another post here about the same video.  I did it, and it didn't work for me.  I'll see if I can find the link.

Hi Phonix, seems as though you were partially exiting your body. That method is from the Hindu Yoga tradition so carry on with it and don't get bothered by any images you may have. You will probably get vibrations, just go with it. It is a matter of practising meditation that will bring you success.
Good luck, djed  :-)
I have a dream, a song to sing...d~ d~ d~

I actually tried it again last night and ended up getting to a point where i felt extremely light vibrations, and saw swirling of the stars.. Sadly i managed to fall asleep, such a shame
