The act of seperating

I'll try to keep this short and not sound like too much of a n00b. So, as I said in my introduction I've encountered the whole vibrational state about 3 times so far in the past 10 days. Before that first time I was pretty much just reading my book like it was a fantasy novel and not really sure what to think but now I'm fairly convinced there's something to this. I only heard the "buzzing" the first time and I pretty much just freaked out until the whole thing subsided but the last two times I've been much more relaxed. I've been trying a guided meditation for lucid dreaming (though it was only the first vibrational state that it seemed I came out of a lucid dream, the rest ive been conscious) and I also tried just going to bed with some binaural beats a couple times...the guided meditation is what actually takes me to the vibrational state so far, though I've had a lot of interesting sensations and feelings from the beats.

I also feel pretty adequate at staying conscious while my body falls asleep. It's like dipping down and down in consciousness and somewhere in that lower level right before I totally pass out is where my affirmations like "now im out of body" or "now im in the vibrational state" seem to really have power and cause something. Someone here said NOT to focus on the bodily sensations but after all my reading I'm still quite confused on WHAT it is I'm supposed to focus on once I hit that state. How do I know that I'm ready to separate and what is a good thing to focus on or affirm in order to have that separation happen? I'm just still lost on that.

Or do I just do nothing when I get to the vibrational state? Perhaps Im trying to control it too much?  :?

You can't control it, you need to relax and passively observe all the "signposts" with an air of curiosity.

Focusing on your body sensations is still focusing on your body. Using Mantras, counting from 1-300, visualizing/fantasizing, these are things that create a Non Physical focus.

Check out the helpful Stickies found on this forum. There are some excellent tutorials.

Here's just a few to get you started.

When I get to the state deep in meditation and I know I can project sometimes i visualize different geometric shapes and use them as a gateway. I'll let myself be absorbed into the symbol and it takes me different places. Some of the symbols have taken me to places that I didn't like. Try triangles or circles or stars. I would love to hear if this worked for you and where you went.

I call this "leaning into" the environment and use it as an exit technique for visual-type symptoms.  However, for exit cues such as heavy heavy vibrations I use methods which externalize your focus, such as the rope technique or the waterski technique.
Hope this is helpful.
Why?

The biggest thing I have learned from this website is that astral projection isn't separation. It is simply the act of changing your consciousness. Apparently, this is the biggest mistake many rookies, (like us,) make. If someone sees this, and I am totally wrong in my analysis of most of the posts I've read, please correct me.

That should be the second biggest thing you learn here.
The biggest thing you should learn from this website is to never just outright believe anything anyone says.  Use your own experiences as your point of comparison.
This is why we aim so readily with teaching people to experience these things for themselves, so that they can have that point of personal reference.

It starts off with your immediate perception. You autonomously lock yourself with the physical vessel and base this as a foundation. The consequences are that the gained perception is you are leaving your body and travelling away to another location.
Your analysis is correct. The 'you' as a character or personality that experiences life in the conciously aware state is an unattached energetic form that you control by thoughts. In the grounded state, the primary functions are all within the limits of the physical world environment.  This fixes your initial reference with respect to the information you have learned, all physical based.
Once this is broken by understanding the non physical and your experiences in interacting within it, the door opens to questions of 'what is real'.
It's so similar to the ancient view of 'the sun travels around the Earth'. Studying the finest details retrograde motion of the planets disproves this. Its historic as we know, the miniscule aberrations or anomalies once understood give rise to the truth.
Having the capability to visit some distant physical location and return is one of these anomolies. It has it's own ruleset with reality fluctuations. These are part of the experience.
Once experienced your understanding on life changes drastically.
With many experiences, you find your reasoning changing to a point source of identity that is you and start again with more questions as to the wider reality, it's purpose and so much more.
Infinity is too small a word to label it's size.
Thoughts.
There's far more where the eye can't see.
Close your eyes and open your mind.
