The drought has ended!!

Finally, after 4 months of not having the slightest bit of success, I had a projection again this morning! What a relief...I had been depressed for months over this. It took me longer to learn how to project again than it originally took me when I started from the beginning lol. The reason for this is because I was wanting a chance to become better friends with some guys I work with, and they play this game online every night called "League of Legends" and had been trying to get me to join for a while. I finally gave in about 4 months ago, and ended up getting pretty addicted to it, staying up late every night playing so that I was too sleepy to project the next morning. This was obviously a huge mistake because it derailed my projection experience for 4 months until I finally was able to get it back again.

I actually got extremely close yesterday and was on the cusp of exiting for what seemed like minutes, but I was too excited and it scudded the attempt. This morning I repeated the same exact routine as yesterday knowing that I'd need to remain totally passive until the full shift was made. After about an hour the trance was starting to wear off and although I'd been having hypnagogic sensations the whole time, I felt myself waking up. So I used my "last ditch attempt" method of rolling onto my stomach in my sleep position and trying to just nose-dive to sleep, hoping that I would awake to a projection. Well, this time it worked! I heard the high pitch ringing noise and just focused on it out of habit even though I was very much asleep. It escalated quickly and I felt myself phase into the NP.

The strange thing was that I thought, for some reason, that I had moved to my couch out in the living room. So I thought "alright I need to roll out to my left now that I'm on the couch". So I flopped onto the floor and started demanding my vision. Slowly it came into focus and I was sitting in my living room from the house I lived in as a child, only it was a greyish and gloomy version. I noticed that the clarity of my vision was actually better than ever and I could see the house in much better detail. I thought to myself "I never get to see my sleeping body when I go OBE, so I'll have a look!" and when I looked at the couch there was no body there, only a blanket and a bright yellow pillow, which I thought was strange. I walked into the kitchen and remembered what I wanted to do during my next projection, which was to experience my higher self as Robert Bruce encourages you to do in Astral Dynamics. So I shouted "I EXPERIENCE MY HIGHER SELF" 2-3 times with a strong intent, and then I heard the ringing noise again and felt myself phasing somewhere else. But instead of going somewhere else, I simply woke up. Once I woke up I couldn't figure out why I thought I was out on my couch, and I suppose that's just a sign that I didn't have my full and complete level of awareness with me yet to remember that I was sleeping in my bed.

Not sure that I have enough experience yet with projection to do something like go to my higher self, but I'm sure that will come in time. I also know that I'm not actually "rolling out" of my body when I project, evidenced by the fact that I actually just rolled off of a couch I was laying on in the Astral lol. However I haven't learned how to phase straight away yet and this method works for me for now, so I'll continue to use it until I learn how to phase directly. Just happy that the 4 month drought is over!

ah yes....gaming and their effect on projection success I used to do a lot gaming, and found it directly impacted my chances of Phasing. Especially if you game into the night. Really it all boils down to how important things are for you. Enjoy watching loads of movies and playing lots of games at night? Well for the most part, kiss your nightly journey's goodbye    Especially multi player social games. Single player games don't have as big a impact.

Hey, congrads mate! I've been through 'droughts' too before and yeah, it can be a little depressing. So as you're figuring out, How to stop a drought?

1. Early nights

2. A strong desire and intent expressed verbally ( or written down ) just before going to sleep......very important!

3. Rinse and repeat the above with your favourite techniques untill = Success

Its important to do what works for you! I too use the roll out method combined with Phantom wiggling. Works really well!

It took me a while to understand the concept behind the higher self, and how to make contact.
It may take you a few more AP to get there but the principle is the same as AP'ing (acceptance), by that I mean that you ask it gently to unveil itself to you. By accepting that this person is you as a spiritual being/higher consciousness and can guide you everywhere you go, or that you accept any form it takes, you give your trust to your higher self and it will appear.
For that you have to accept and understand that it can be of opposite sex, or a completely different appearance than you.
After learning to AP properly the best source for your knowledge are your higher self and the god. Or the Akashic Records.
When you make contact with your higher self and understand how to do it you will be able to see it almost as often as you like.
You won't need your spirit guides as much because you will have access to your higher self.

Wow. That all sounds...incredible. That is exactly why I so strongly want to become good with Astral Projection. I want answers to the questions that I've been asking my whole life. I want to experience the Divine. I want to know and feel and experience who I really am, where I came from, and why I am here. Any amount of work, time and effort is worth that. Thank you for your reply Kzaal, that is extremely encouraging and gives me more motivation than ever to keep pursuing it. How long did it take you to experience your Higher self, and (you can answer in short if you want) what have your experiences been like?

Glad to hear I'm not the only one who's been affected by Gaming too much lol. The funny thing is I haven't played any kind of video games for almost a decade since I was in high school. But I found myself staying up late every night playing, and thinking about the game as I went to sleep and strategizing all night instead of thinking about AP. I learned my lesson the hard way. Never again will I let ANYTHING come before projecting.

Thanks for the advice as well. That's pretty much what I did for the past 4 months, although keeping that motivation was hard when I kept failing every single day. But persistence paid off. When you say "a strong intent expressed verbally", what exactly do you mean? Do you say something like "tonight I am going to project"?

I didn't understand the concept behind it in the beginning so it didn't work very well.
But ya, 4-5 months ago I went to bed, tried AP'ing and I heard a female voice who said: -HEY!
Happened to me twice and I after that I knew my Higher self was contacting me.
After that I just started asking it to show itself. To me I'm still trying to figure out what she exactly look like...
This stuff is hard to me because the more I want to see her face the more she back off.
It knows what you think, it shows you the way and challenge you to understand more about life and it's mystery.
It's very weird, when I heard that voice... Man it's like... WHO SAID THAT!?? then you're like I never thought about that and no one is there.
Your Higher self can intrude your thoughts very easily because it's you in the astral future... The you that has completed all the challenges and the you that is staying in the astral as long as it wants.
The voice is just so special tho, you'll notice it eventually, and it happens when you don't think about it.
And once you heard it... that feeling doesn't go away.

All I did was, going to bed, wishing that I could have a little more guidance and thinking that it would be cool if my higher self actually was there for me and if she was, then if she could send me a sign. And it happened lol.

I'm definitely going to try that then. I've always had the feeling that "God" or someone or something higher than myself was with me. When I came out of fundamentalist Christianity I sort of had a few closet atheist months as my view of God (the monarchical boss of the universe) was completely shattered, I was forced to re-imagine God. That is one of the many questions I want to have answered through projection: "What is God". I'm sure that question can never be fully answered, but at least to be pointed in some direction that gives me that sense of wonder and mystery and Oneness with the source I once had.

We all go through that stage, I think we can't have faith unless we lose it in the first place.
Rather, we choose to believe what people tell us, until we have enough and remove all that belief.
Then when all beliefs are gone, god shows you signs until you have faith.
When you have faith, you don't lose it.

Same thing happened for me, I believed everything about religions, I got frustrated and I lost all interest, became Atheist and then it's as if God hit me with his mighty fist to show me what true faith is.

I think I am going through that exact process right now. It helps so much to hear that from people like you who've been through this before. I am extremely excited for what the future has in store. This past year and a half have been extremely difficult, but I feel like a light is breaking through inside, and something far more real and beautiful is going to come out of all this.

Your statement "I think we can't have faith until we lose it" is so profoundly true. The faith I had before was so strong but such an insecure one. I hoped I was right to be believing in something. All of that has been removed now. I can now see that unshakeable faith being created in me. And I see the purpose of this whole journey and it is quite amazing to say the least

Congratulations on getting back into aping and pursuing what's pulling at you and I couldn't agree more that we only gain faith after losing it or what we thought was faith!! The most beautiful revelation in my life to this point has been stumbling across this forum and developing spiritually. And whatever God is or source or whatever you choose to call "it", it is the most of everything wonderful you could ever conceive at this point in your lifetime!! Never quit with this and remain open and passive. Humble yourself, and open yourself to the unknown, uncharted wonders that abound and pay attention. You'll be given plenty of signs and you'll know what's what because they will be made obvious to you at some point or another and when the pieces come together work it out but still pay attention because there is always, always, always something to be gained from even the slightest most insignificant seeming experience safe travels and may you have countless!

Thank you for this post NewOldSoul! It's always great to meet someone of similar background/life experience. From the sounds of it you've been where I am going for a while yourself. Thank you for the advice and encouragement, and I echo the same back to you! I am learning to be completely open to any and everything that comes my way. Now that the shackles of religion no longer hold me back, it feels as though the Universe is my oyster! I am working hard every day on my Projection so that I can learn everything I have sent myself here to learn and then some.
