starting about 6 months ago i stumbled upon some stuff about astral projection. from that night till about a month or two ago i tried various methods with no success. no matter how hard i tried i was getting no where. then i became skeptical although i remembered one time, when i was young, flying outside my grandmothers house where i had stayed the night. i also kind of remembered feeling strange vibrations the same night. but about a month or two ago i decided that there was no wa it was true and it was all some kind of lucid dreaming.

needless to say 4 days ago i had my first astral experience, completely not on purpose. my friend was staying over and i was having a hard time falling asleep. my mind started to wonder, and all of a sudden my entire body was vibrating, and incredibly frightning sensation. my body, still vibrating started to float through my wall, i was flying but i was moving extremely slowly and couldn't move my body. i could only control which way i slowly floated, still vibrating. i never really tried to increse the vibrations but i still seemed to have left my body. and stuff really wasnt that vivid. i felt like i was in sleep paralysis but vibrating and still able to do the floating thing i described. i brought my consciousness back to my body and was able to wake up. upon recalling the sensation while trying to fall asleep it happened again and i floated aroung my room (again, still vibrating, unable to move, andnot so vivid). it happened a few more times before i finally dozed off. tonight i think i may have finnally crossed over to the astral plane. i was drifting off into sleep and my mind drifted back to the experience a few nights ago which i had forgotten about entirely. and as soon as they did the vibrations started back. i floated a little around my room just as had happened last time. i then tried to increase the vibrations and was able to make them instantly increase just at the thought of it. it was very scary as i started hearing wierd gurgling sounds and my body felt like i was about to explode into a billion pieces. they peaked out and then vanished entirely and i was again laying in my bed and  strange and beautiful painting of a lanscape was on my wall. before i could even register this the vibrations started back but and i was unable to incease them an awoke in my bed.

this happened just about 20 minutes ago and i still have never beeen able to induce these when i want, it just happens. but now i know its real, there is no doubt in my mnd. id like to experiencce these again because next time i want to stay in the planes for a while and experience the most amazing thing to ever happen to me again. anyone who can give me any advice it would be much appreciated. also if anyone has AIM id love someone to chat with about experiences. plus can anyone explain why i was floating around during the vibrations? much thanks.

this is my main question: next time the vibrations start and i start floating around my room (still vibrating and unable to move, very low clarity) what should I do? should I increase the vibrations as high as i can or am i allready in the planes? it seemed like the last time it happened when i increased the vibrations to the max that as soon as the painting appears on my wall i immediatly vibrated a little more and woke up. basically i guess im asking if im supposed to still be vibrating once im in the astral planes or if by that point the vibrations are supposed to have ceased. thanks.  :-o

You'll be fine. For Beginners it can be very Brief and dissapointing as in you may have wanted to stay longer but your body called you back. ;) Thats ok because your subconscious has no clue whats going on and thats its defense mechanism since all our lives we've only contained ourselves in the physical realm thats what its used to. As You Astral Project more you'll find that it'll be easier to tame your mind as you go along. Just remember to meditate often to increase your Vibration Frequencies and to control your thoughts. Especially Meditate in the Astral and command "Clarity" So your astral eyes can improve and the world around you would look more "Real" Then life itself. Dont try to force yourself to project but just let it flow because sometimes it can just happen when you least expect it.I know when i tried too hard i was going nowhere but ironically as soon as i forgot about the subject was when i woke up one day struck under sleep paralysis and was able to float out freely.

Hope this helps :)

You're already on the planes, but your awareness hasn't shifted completely.  If you concentrate on manipulating vibrations you'll locate yourself back in body, because what's vibrating is your sense perception.  If you're floating you're already out.  Forget vibrations and try to get away from your body as fast as you can.
There are ways to do that- you can pretend you're at the bottom of a pool and are floating up, you can look at something far away and try to be drawn to it (by your focus) or you can try to match (not increase, that's a mistake) the wavelike feeling you're getting and 'surf out' on one of those waves.
But if you try to manipulate those vibes all you're doing is resynchronizing with your body, therefore returning to it.

both of these answers helped a lot. it still hasn't happened again but im not trying to force it, just to let it come naturally. when it does im planning to just draw myself in a direction away from my body and forget about the vibes completely. Hopefully then ill be able to have a much better experience.

Its complex, compulsive OOBE can come and go and even go and never come again. I had many between the ages of 8-26, since then ive never had a spontaneous OOBE. Maybe because of my own fears from a bad experience or maybe something else changed. In the end I had to go looking to find again. :-D

Glad you had your first and I hope you enjoy them all.

I can tell you what works for me.
I try not to pay attention to vibrations although its more like a loud buzz in my head for me. When the buzzing is strong enough, (i just know when its time) I don't imagine myself floating out. As a matter of fact i don't imagine anything, I just get out of bed like I would normally do in the physical, rolling out of bed works too. Then i either jump out of the house or pass through the glass door and go outside.

What i also want to mention from my experience although i only begun to astral project (without any training) about 8 months ago, is that my symptoms of astral projection seem to go through changes as time passes. I remember "waking up" in the night hearing a loud ringing in my head that couldn't explain. Some time later i had many incidents of sleep paralysis (3-4 in a week) and kind of a no weight, floating out feeling.
Then I had some training with excercises and had some success but most of the times i only had vibrations that couldn't maintain in order to get out.
I've stopped maditating and doing other excercises for some months now (well except trying to be focuced when i go to sleep) and I seem to be having success, well greater than in the past at least.
Also the loudness of the buzzing seems to have lowered significantly from what I had at first, it lasts shorter and i seem to be able to leave the body more easily now but I get the "no vision" thing more now.

Can anyone shed some light on that please?

...but not at the magnitude on which it happened to you. Tonight I was in a dream and then woke up because I knew it was getting close to time for my alarm clock to go off. (I am not sure why this is, but no matter what time I set my alarm clock to, 99% of the time I will wake up anywhere from 3-30 minutes before it goes off. And it happens any time I set it, doesnt matter what time I set it for.) I was just lying in bed waking up with my eyes closed, kind of just chilling there for a minute or so, then in my minds eye or more like the blackness of my eyelids I saw a faint image of a structure appear. It was there for only a second and then it started getting smaller and smaller and smaller as if I was flying backwards away from it. This invoked a feeling that was very familiar. All of a sudden I felt the vibrations hit me and could hear the roaring sound. At the very same instant this happened I could feel my astral body slide out of my physical body off to the right. A second or two later and the experience ended. Whats so weird about this, is that when I felt my astral body slide out, I felt like I was on my back - but when I "fully" awoke, I was lying on my stomach. Oddly enough, every single time I have an experience like this, or even a partially conscious one, I notice I am always on my back. One time when I had a partially conscious OOBE, I felt my astral body turning onto its back while still in my physical body.

Now that you mention it, the same thing happens to me.... I always go to sleep either on one side or the other but when I get conscious i always remember getting out like I'm on my back facing the ceiling.
I believe thats because once the astral body is released, it can toss and turn within the physical body.

I had a similar experience last night, I got the buzzing and saw some instant flashes. I felt like i was struggling to get out (like getting out of bed) but i felt difficulty in doing so like rubber bands pulling me back. I couldn't see anything.... it ended quickly. Happened again later that night but it was the same and ended quickly again.

That sounds like an awesome projection for a beginner!  You were already getting more control within the few experiences you had.

Demaning clarity (like someone else mentioned) can be helpfull.  Just try demanding what you want, if you want to fly - just demand it :o)

Good luck with your astral travels x
