Title: "Troubleshooting" OBE
Post by: Serenity on June 19, 2004, 10:26:19
Well all I can suggest is that perhaps you weren't relaxed enough, and your body was trying to go into AP but you were non-intentionally having little doubts at the back of your mind which stopped the process. Doubt or over-excitement immediately stops AP, you have to have a completly clear mind with only the thought of being pulled out of your body in your thoughts. I am suggesting the violentness is your body trying to move into its astral state, but you, perhaps without realising, stopped this by a little niggling feeling of doubt...?

I forgot to add that maybe it was so voilent because the majority of your mind wanted you to go through with AP, but the tiny % of it which didn't ws holding you back, and perhaps you were in "two minds", so to speak, and they were in conflict, causing the violent shaking all over.
Or perhaps you just weren't ready? I don't know. I'm no expert.

Thank you, Serenity! That's a good explanation!

I felt that my body was purposely resisting the process, as if it was following some instinct or was just not ready. I could either be not relaxed enough or not possesing enough energy for the AP. And yes, excitement was present indeed. It's very hard to handle though. I guess practice makes perfect :-)

ady, I don't know why you were not able to project, I also have been in a  similar state for about an hour. The way I have got around the problem was to use the interupted sleep technique, somehow this overcomes the obstacles that occur when we are more 'awake'.

I've come up with a personal theory about OBE success.

Stop talking, worrying, and deliberating about your OBE problems and just keep trying. Any time where there is free time.  You will be ready eventually.

What is that interrupted sleep technique exactly, ralphm?

Berserk Exodus, I really like your theory! [:)] I think thats what everyone should do, stop worrying and analyzing things that happen to you and just do it!
Ady, the interrupted sleep technique is (if I recall correctly) just getting up/setting an alarm to wake you up after like 6 hours of sleep, or something like that. You stay up for an hour and go back to bed. Then you just lay there and try to stay awake, kinda like the Insomnia Method.
Hope I helped!

That sounds kinda bad 4u. I heard it's not good to interrupt a nightsleep...?

For the interupted sleep some people stay awake for up to an hour(after 5-6 hrs. of sleep), but i just get up then go back to bed, do some focusing/energy work for as long as i can focus, then drift back to sleep then I am awakened in the vibration/exit phase. Somehow this bypasses whatever is holding you back when you are more awake. One time I was able to project without falling back to sleep, and I would have to say I felt like I kept just the slimest bit of awareness, in contrast to the experiences i had that seemed intense but i was very much awake and aware.

Hi everyone!

Yesterday evening I tried my first OBE. I have been practicing relaxation techniques for a very long time, so I had no problem with the first stage. At some point, I started to have following sensations:

- strong acceleration in chest area;
- EXTREME vibrations in my whole body;
- strong (real) heartbeat;
- strong vibration of eyelids;
- tension in muscles + sweating;

Afterwards, I had a feeling that my hands got bigger and fatter. Warmth in the whole body.

I had those vibrations 3 times, but after each one, could NOT "move out of the body", even after trying to "climb the rope". I also didn't see anything. Sounds were more or less clear.

The third vibration was so intense, that my eyes opened, and continued with opened eyes! When I finished, I felt dizzy and a little bit sick. My whole body felt as if it was not mine and it felt weird. After drinking a glass of water, everything was back to normal.

Please help me understand what happened! Thank you!
