Title: Vibrations.
Post by: spaz_ on July 01, 2005, 02:00:45
Hello,

Last night was my second attempt of astral projecting and this time I had better results. I had relaxed my whole body and thought of a place that I had known well. I was using a technique I had read in the book Adventures Beyond the Body by William Buhlman in which one would visualize a place they know very well and used as much sensory and detail as possible. I, like Buhlman was picturing my living room simply because I know it quite well.

I visualized it intently as I started to drift off, I never actually fell asleep but I do remember becoming quite close. I felt a very numb/tingling sensation all over body.

I have a few questions though.

I hear a lot of people (and the books I read) speak of feeling vibrations before they AP. Now, are these "vibrations" internal or external? When I had read these things I had always assumed they were external and the body would shake rapidly, just based on descriptions and choice of words people used to describe their experiences. But, after my experience I am starting to think the vibrations are internal.

Also, when I try to AP I listen for sounds in my room so I know when I am asleep or not but I think this is keeping me awake. I was listening for about 30 minutes and I was drifting off into sleep and feeling these vibrations in which I would of thought I would had been asleep by then.. but I wasn't. Finally I just gave up and quit the exercise and went to sleep. Should I keep doing what I'm doing and just be more patient? Also, how long should it take before I hit that "awake/sleep" bridge?

Thanks.

From my personal experience, you will know when you hit the vibrational state.  Your physical body doesn't vibrate, but definitely feels like it is.  I feel as though high-voltage electricity is coursing up & down my body (although without pain) and feel like I'm physically being rocked back and forth (but I'm perfectly still). This is supposed to be your etheric body separating from your physical after falling asleep.

As far as how long it takes, if last night was your second time, either it's going to take a lot of time and practice (like most people) or you're naturally gifted at it (seems pretty rare, yet exists in some).

With me, I tend to hit the awake/sleep state anywhere from 15-35 minutes, and if it takes any longer than that, I normally don't make it. But the more often you do it, the easier it gets.

Practice, Practice, Practice (but don't frustrate yourself).

That will keep you awake, yes.  Whilst you need to stay "awake", you also need to lose most of the sense of "being awake", and just retain a tiny part of your mind that is crystal clear.

What I have found helpful while I am drifting towards sleep is to focus on what's going on inside my head, inside my mind.  Forget all thoughts of your body, and even whether you are nearly there or not.  Just relax and let yourself become fascinated and absorbed with what is happening behind your eyes.  But remember to relax your eyes too!  So it feels like you are looking, but not with your physical eyes.  Which is rather like being able to see objects at either side of your line of vision.  So, you are looking at these words right now, but you can also "see" what is to your right and left, even though you are not directly looking there.

It's tricky because most often you will simply fall asleep, but with practice, you will find you can stay alert for longer periods.

Listen to the sounds inside your mind too - there's plenty going on in there!

Good luck.

Sarah

Yes also add in the vibes increase and decrease in intensity when you shift "out" or "in"
