Hello, I'm new to this forum, and I send my good wishes to all of you.

I have been a meditator for many years, and have read alot lately about near death experiences NDE's. I am very interested in astral projection etc, and in general expanding my horizons. My goal, as with meditaion, is to learn to love more. I am wondering what experiences you good people have had that have improved your ability to love. I guess I'm looking for more motivation to decide whether conciously leaving my body is a path that will bring me closer to the Divine.

Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Love and eggnogg.

Im not a projector, but what will bring you closer to the divine is by performing his will. You dont need to project to be close to god! If you truly love God and truly believe in him then pray to him , and follow his will and inshallah God will come closer to you:) Everybody has differnt ways of approaching God and being close to him,I pray to my Lord, I recite the Holy Koran and I feel such a great rush and presence so in retrospect I don't need projecting :P

"Ask and you shall receive" ; isn't that in the Bible?

You can visit "God" if you just ask. I have yet to see a limit to the possibilities...

hmm.. getting closer to the divine?  That's quite vague.  You say you want to experience and expand your knowledge of love?  Than do more loving things.  I would agree that WE are God for God is in and acts through all of us... God is not a being but the source of divine energy throughout the iniverse....I would argue :)  However, this is only our understanding as of today.

Putting this aside, the search for truth/God comes from within.  People tell stories of learning vast amounts about themselves and the universe through astral travel... so, err... couldn't hurt! :)

keep practicing...it's all a matter of intent

p.s.  --and yes, i believe I meant iniverse

Cabalists say that if you get to close to God you won't be able to come back.

The divine is around us all the time, even in the excrement you crap.

I don't see anything rude in what Jeehad wrote. He simply said that reciting the koran made him feel closer to God. He found what works for him and said that, as a result, he didn't need to project to do it.

I think he has a valid point. Many people have never heard of OBE or Ap, but still feel close to God. And I also agree that doing what you believe God wants you to do is a way of feeling closer to him/her/it.
Reality is what you perceive it to be.

I agree with the above for the most part, but I believe God is a concept, or set of concepts man has imposed on various aspects and energies of the psyche, ID, ego etc. One could call God the sum of everything – but that really has little meaning, and I increasingly don't see the need to label things God or not-God. Perhaps we need a new word as God has become irrevocably polluted my a billion differing interpretations and beliefs (or perhaps that's the point? :)).

Thank you :) exactly what I mean. Everybody has there own way of getting closer to God(Allah), My way is through prayer through good actions through fasting through the basic 5 pillars of Islam.As a Muslim I need to perform the 5 pillers which are fasting,praying 5 times a day, Performing pilgrimage to Mecca(if you can afford), giving at least 10% of the wealth to the poor, and Belivining the divine. I think these actions help me further and closen myself to God, frankly I don't need to speak to an angel or spirits or anything to understand or know about God because I believe he is with me and all of us and He projects his message through the holy Quran(my belief:P)

And from there lies the quest for knowledge...

Depends what kind of Divine you're talking about. If you want to visit a big shining light that eminates purity and everything good, and that which you can look up at and go, "Hey God, how's it hanging?" Then you can do that pretty much any time you wish. Your imagination will probably come up with some representation suitable to your interests.

Otherwise if you ask me, there is no path better to become a more prosperous person than that of our waking, living world. It's in the 'astral' that we discover how precious and amazing life really is. It is not where we make the great advancement.
As it as written, now and forever shall be. In the name of the Stevo, amen.

Personally I believe in god as omnipresent. Not a person sitting on a chair in a place called heaven, everything all at once. IMO heaven is a unity with this whole being. The highest consciousness of all. God seems to a singularity and everything at once.

Perhaps after many afterlifes that may await me, and complete spiritual evolution I will experience God, maybe. On one hand I can't wait and on the other I know I am not spiritually ready to experience such greatness. Whoa I just had a massive Deja Vu.

Interesting to know how other people interpret the concept?

I like to think that a "return" to God is an experience of realization. That all time, universes, things, thoughts, concepts - EVERTHING, is consciousness that creates an instant seperation from God and has to be removed/forgotten to re-experience God.

Everthing is God and at the same time keeps us from experiencing God.

Awakened_Mind

How all dimensions seem to exist not separate but in the same place complementary to each other makes you wonder how deep our 'self' actually is. Being the fact that they are complementary I think when I experience this highest consciousness it will be a realization that I have been there forever.

I've read there are 12 dimensions. http://www.geocities.com/aloha3003/Mediation12Dimension.html

Interesting theory. Not sure where it originated. I think they should of reversed the order from 1st through 12th instead of the other way around.

I think projection is attainable by all humanity and that it is a divine gift to expand the consciousness and make us more loving . I feel it brings us closer to God . I am a mystic , kaballahist and alchemist . I feel that the raison d'etre is to learn to love more and to become closer to God . I believe that this comes from a variety of methods including but not limited to ;

* loving God and each other in all our ways , being obedient to the Godhead
* feet that walk a path closer to God
* hands that perform actions of Love and Service to humanity
* a mouth that professes adoration and benediction
* a mind that has good , kind and loving thoughts
* energy work
* meditation
* mystic visions
* learning to see and hear angels
* projection thru the merkabah to spiritual realms in mystic projection of consciousness
* attaining Kether

Asamalaikum!  I agree with you. Imho , our path, our choices , and our love brings us closer to God .
Mohammed, the prophet - may God bless and preserve him!- has said that he  travelled with angels in a sphere to realms of heaven. Islamic mystics believe his sphere was the divine chariot known as a merkabah . I am not muslim . I am a mystic .  I studied the Holy Koran when I worked at Islamic Saudi Academy as a teacher . Imho , Mohammed projected and experienced God . When I read the Koran I learned that Mohammed spoke about Jesus and Mary with great love and respect . I learned he was a man of peace who has visions from God as a prophet .

QuoteIn the seventeenth sura of the Koran it is written that upon a certain night Mohammed was transported from the temple at Mecca to that of Jerusalem, but no details are given of the strange journey. In the Mishkāteu 'l-Masabih, Mohammed is made to describe his ascent through the seven heavens into the icy presence of the may-veiled God and his subsequent return to his own bed, all in a single night. Mohammed was awakened in the night by the Angel Gabriel, who, after removing the Prophet's heart, washed the cavity with Zamzam water, and filled the heart itself with faith and science. A strange creature, called Alborak, or the lightning bolt, was brought for the conveyance of the Prophet. Alborak is described as white animal of the shape and size of a mule, with the head of a woman and the tail of a peacock. According to some versions, Mohammed merely rode Alborak to Jerusalem, where, dismounting upon Mount Moriah, he caught hold of the lower rung of a golden ladder lowered from heaven and, accompanied by Gabriel, ascended through the seven spheres separating he earth from the inner surface of the empyrean. At the gate of each sphere stood me of the Patriarchs, whom Mohammed saluted as he entered the various planes. At the gate of the first heaven stood Adam; at the gate of the second, John and Jesus (sisters' sons); at the third, Joseph; at the fourth, Enoch; at the fifth, Aaron; at the sixth, Moses; and at the seventh, Abraham. Another order of the Patriarchs and prophets is given which places Jesus at the gate of the seventh heaven, and upon reaching this Point Mohammed is said to have requested Jesus to intercede for him before the throne of God.
