I don't exactly know where to put this, but I'll try here.

Basically, after my experience I've done a bit of research and ended up seeing that mine may have somewhat matched what I see with this whole astral projection business. I don't really know if I believe in it or whatnot, but I'll relay my experience.

It has happened a few times over the past months. I will wake up in the middle of the night with this VERY loud and intense rushing/buzzing sound going through my head. It sounds like a mixture of radio static and a waterfall, but it's very loud... has a bit of an electric tone to it.

And then I open my eyes and I cannot move. I feel as if I have some sort of *choice* to make, and I always freak out and wake up fully...sometimes scared to go back to sleep.

I do not know if this is a medical condition or what.... I don't know what exactly I'm afraid of, except for the fact that I have no control over my body.

Ah, your right on the way...When you wake up and hear that, don't move don't open your eyes just relax and you may feel yourself floating upwards...Anyhow onto the not believe part...When I joined, some of the things I heard sounded like religion to me (Something I strongly don't believe, no offense meant to anyone) and I just didn't believe some bits...But I forced myself to believe and I'm happy I did so...Best idea I ever had, if you don't believe then it's a hell of allot harder.

That not moving thing is normal we -all- get it, it's called sleep paralysis; when your body goes to sleep, it locks up so when for instance your running in your sleep, you don't actually move or run...or when speaking you don't speak...Although that one is easy to undo. You shouldn't feel scared about it, it's just your body is asleep while your mind is a awake, which is perfect for astral projecting. The static is most likely your astral body coming in tune.

Hope I helped, gimme + karma! :)

It's your choice whether to pursue it from this point, or not.

You can ignore it as best you can, and the symptoms may well recede into distant memory and you never worry about it again...or, the symptoms/signals may persist, in which case you have to deal with them, either as a bothersome kind of nuisance or as an adventure to be explored.

Or you pursue them outright.

The paralysis is a normal state for dreaming, nothing to be feared; the roaring/rushing noise is normal for noticing that your 'energy body' is alive and aware. The 'reality' of the event, the 'realness' is very freaky at first and causes a FEAR response in most of us; this takes some repeated experiences and understanding of what's going on before the FEAR subsides and CURIOSITY takes over. It's like swimming in the deep end of the pool.

Do some research on this site, then decide for yourself; Yes, like anything it has its 'unknown areas of possible danger' and nobody can define them all or guarantee your ultimate safety...like the deep end of the pool, you can drown or choke or blow out your eardrums if you dive too deep; in the ocean there are sharks and jellyfish...that doesn't stop millions from swimming. Stay onshore or dive in. From my perspective, the water's fine. EV
Be yourself; everyone else is already taken.

Yes, you seem to be very close to actual projection. From what you describe, you seem to be at the focal point of whether to project or not.

I'm didn't quite get the feel if you want to accomplish projection or not, but you are quite lucky if you spontaneusly get to the point of projection, without any previous training. If you want to project, you just have to stay relaxed and NOT freak out. I know it sounds hard, but practise makes perfect. When you encounter that state enough times, you get accustumed to it and it doesn't scare you enough to waste the projection. Then just use some exit method to project (Robert Bruces ROPE seems to be the popular one).

If you are unwilling to project, then I don't really know how you can avoid waking up in this state. Normally from what I gather, very few people get to know this state more than once or twice in their life if they aren't pursuing it. Atleast you know how to break it. Freaking out is one good way, and so is any strong emotion, thinking and many others. Except if this is accompanied by body paralysis, as you seem to describe.. then just focus on moving a single toe or something with all your might to break the paralysis as fast as possible.
