What did this experience mean??

After the death of my Dad on Oct 16th 2001, that very next morning when I finally went to lay down, I had a spontaneous and very vivid OBE.  In this OBE, it started out RTZ, but I moved higher, I think to pa place between etheric and astral maybe, but I have never really been sure where this was. And I realize that my descriptions of the surroundings may have been just how my mind perceived it to make some sense of it, but I know in my heart that this place is real.  I know it WAS an OBE, and yes it WAS my Dad I was with.  The place we went to seemed like it was almost between two places, like it was the very edge of one place and on the other side was a different place.   I had escorted him to this place, and he told me I could not go any further.  Here is the word for word entry from my journal that day:

"Journal Entry - 17/10/2001 - A Final Farewell

My father passed away last night with my Mother and me at his
side. The two of us left the hospital and stayed up most of the
night talking, and around 5 am, I finally decided to try and get a
few hours sleep. When I did fall asleep, I had an out-of-body
experience - one that will forever be in my memory.

I remember walking beside my father. The scenery around was like a
convergence between two places. There was a kind of tower,
like an outpost. It was round and had a lookout position at the
top. We went inside. There were what looked to be consoles
around the inside of the lookout, and windows all around the
outside.

My father spoke to me and said 'This is as far as you can go, don't worry it will
be ok'."

This place did not look to me like the astral pojections I had, it was much more barren actually. I remember everything looking gray and not foggy but like it gets just before a storm is about to start... like overcast and grey. 

Where were we, that I could not go any further with him? Where did I escort him to?  Was this a specific place on the astral level?  If so, I do not ever remember any of my other APs ever looking like this place!  Its the one experience I want to make some sense of.

It would seem that you already realize that this was a visit with your Father.  Also, that you are aware of it being and out of body experience.  I would tend to agree with you on both counts.

As for the building being significant I would assume it was more a visual aspect for you to 'see him off' to his destination. 

I noticed that this occured almost 5 years ago, (Oct. 17) so I'm wondering a couple of things.  Have you had any visits with him since he's been gone?  If so, were they in the same building type structure?

I had an experience once that sounds similar to yours in concept. It was definately not an EP, as I've had enough of those to recognize them. But this one also didn't feel like a normal astral trip either -- it lacked the colors and vividness of the environment. The scenery and people I perceived to be all as light grey color -- reminiscent of cigarette smoke. I think this is similar to your description of light grey like before a storm. For me I perceived being inside a structure of somesort. I also perceived a huge individual standing near the entrance that greeted people upon arriving. This could be what you perceived as the console/tower.

I walked around the building and noted that some people 'worked' there. I spoke to one of them they explained this place was a type of healing stop. People both incarnate and deceased stay there varying lengths of time to heal themselves of various things. I never got details on what was being healed or how they were healed. But it was a temporary station for people needing some type of healing. My sense was of comforting others, but that was my interpretation.

If you father was recently deceased at the time, this could have been where he went before moving on to somewhere else....just a thought!

I have been able to contact him since....  About 6 months later, and it was very vivid that time. Actually that was most vivid OBE to date.  Since I was basically sleeping in a large electromagnet at the time, I believe that helped the experience I think.   (We were in the ship while it was wrapped in cables being depermed, where bursts of electricity are shot through the cables to erase the magnetic signature of the hull.. I am in the Navy)

Anyway in that experience, it was AP for sure... and the colors were very vivid, like jumping off everything.  EVen inanimate objects had obvious auras.  My dad looked younger, like about 30ish.  He was 53 when he died.  I could see flecks of energy in his eyes dancing about, and he just looked so healthy and happy.  He asked me how I had been since he left.  Oh another thing I remember is that it was very bright, and I could almost hear the colors, and see music (if that makes sense)  Totally different that time. It was also in a different place.  We were in what seemed to be a recreation of my parents house, only with tiny differences. 

The first time was the night (well the morning) he died.  He died at 11 pm, and this was about 5 am.  It was like I went with him to this place.  It was the fact that he said I couldn't go any further that got to me.  SO why was I able to see him after that date?

Why were you able to see him after that date?  The date he died you mean?  People have visitations from loved ones that have passed.  Most of the time they write them off as a really vivid dream.  (I guess this perception might depend on your belief system) IMHO you were able to see him because he really visited with you, in spirit and in the astral.

It is also not uncommon for a loved one to be visited within 24 hours from passing.  I've read many accounts of people having several different types of visitations, yours (at least to me) was a classic example.  It is a surreal feeling to say the least, as I speak from experience.  Another thing I'd like to mention is that they usually do appear in their mid 30's, which also defines your classic example.   

As far as your first experience, he said you couldn't go any further because this is where you 'went with him to say goodbye' and he had to leave.  You couldn't go any further because literally you are still in physical form.  You took him to that building in the astral.  Sorry I'm not being very clear but, does that make sense to you?

Novice:  It would seem that you too had a similar experience.  I've read about the healing place, or the stopping place or whichever term people prefer.  It's supposed to be a stopover from physical to spiritual.  If you need to acclimate to your new realm.  It's supposed to be where we get our life review and identify the things that need attention.  For everyone it's different (obviously) because it's created personally for each of us, sort of like our own manifestation of what we think our healing place should look like. 

Similar to Synergy's experience, this building was a manifestation of what would make sense in a visual format as opposed to being 'out there' in the astral and floating around to say good bye.  Now I sound even more bizarre than before.. hopefully you get the jest of what I'm saying?
