i can't say how long i've been trying but it's probably been more than 6 months at least. no shortage of "close calls" and the "symptoms" of being close but it just hasn't happened yet. i had one occurrence where i felt as if my arms were reaching up and one my hands was being held by someone elses but i now think this just may have been my own intertwined hands which were on my chest. i'm very stubborn and would like to do this with a minimum of outside input. actually, i think i'm getting closer and closer with each try. recent attempts have been very encouraging. anyone else in the frequent tryers club?

:P

Humm... let's think. I started university in Sep '95, and heard about APing in... must have been mid '96.

So far, zero successes. I only realised a few months ago that I'd been going about it all wrong. In the last few months, I've made more progress than in all the years before put together.

I've reached the point where I could have phased, but I'm currently working entirely on meditation, & won't be even attempting to project until I've reached a higher level of proficiency with my trance skills.

So, don't be disheartened by a mere six months without success :)

Quite often you will be in a certain mindset which does not allow for a certain system to work. It is important to "shop around" all the systems for projection and find the one that suits you best.

I'd interpreted trance & the "mind awake body asleep" states to mean "Fall half asleep and stop before you go all the way to sleep"

So I let my mind fuzz out and get vague as I descended into sleep, whereas what I should have been doing was keeping my mind alert and focussed as I allowed myself to relax into sleep.

Since I started learning meditation properly, I've been able to reach the trance state that would allow for phasing on numerous occasions. My main practice now is to improve my ability to enter & stay in that state. Only when I can enter & stay in the requisite state reliably will I start trying to AP from it.

I just recently bought a book called "Astral Dynamics" by Robert Bruce and I have been trying to try to get OBE's but with no sucess. I still have not reached the Vibration stage. I feel that I have gotten to the "Mind awake, Body Asleep" stage but no vibrations. My first time meditating I got a feeling of falling and woke up. The second time I felt the falling feeling and then let it come and afterwards I was so happy I woke up... Now should I just go buy MAP or can you guys help me get to the vibration Stage?

so you don't feel any vibrations, not even very brief ones? I'm pretty sure you must at least get that

Aim not trying for a long time but i think this problem could persist after i try for a longer time:
Twice i got vibrations while i was halfasleep(accidentaly), then i tried one brainwave at night, i got some strange feelings...
The problem is when i start to feel something strange/different i never felt before i wake up...im quite nervous/timid i guess and i get scared
How to calm myself down(btw if im calmed down i get nervous at the moment when something happens)
Nice to see you :)

kenshin, only 40% of people get the vibrations, i only get 'em about 30% of the time.

You know what i find helps? actually say out loud, and think all day ''I'm going to AP today'' keep saying it, and believe it.

if you do start getting vibrations though, don't get excited, that well to say it simply wakes you up! Just relax, and go with it.

Want it, but don't want it THAT bad. (you'd get more excited, throwing out your focus)

As daft as it probably sounds, i also made a 'deal' if you will with my subconscious.. I basically listen to that little voice.. if you'd like i could give you a few examples of some of the things that have worked out whilst doing this.  (no i'm not insane) =P

A good practice, close your eyes, clear your mind, and ask to feel a certain feeling, or emotion.. you'll sure as hell feel it!

so before you go to bed, ask your subconscious for help with AP.. i know it sounds a bit.. yeah... but just give it a go.

i cant induce it yet but my advice is read more books about it so you know what to expect.  I'm finishing Cosmic Journeys by Rosalind McKnight which i would recommend. Also building a good energy bubble around you seems to be important.

Hi, I don't really get vibrations either, not anymore.  And when I used to get them it was very little, not like bone jaring ones that other people have had.  If you do not have vibrations that is ok!  Projection isn't a cake recipe that you have to follow and have success with each ingrediant down the list.  You might end up just going from body asleep/ mind awake directly to projection and no other progression along the way.
I wouldn't worry so much about vibrations and just relax.  Get really close to sleep where your incoherant to anything or anyone around you.  Feel really relaxed like you are sinking down into your bed, relaxed and warm and content so relaxed you feel like you could melt right into your mattress.  Get closer, closer to sleep and keep your mind just awake right above the sleep level.  You may see things along the way like the 3rd eye opening and astral site but still be in your body. This is a success too.  Anything new you experience is a success.  Maybe you hear a voice that isn't yours, thats a success.

thanks for tips and advice everyone I will try it again tonight before going to sleep like I have done as before... I'll get back to you all on the details tommorow!

Out of my expirience to get vibrations your body must be asleep firs (can't feel a thing) and are induced by trying to move your DREAMBODY ... once u feel movement you start to have vibrations but as others say ... you should't get too axious about them and just continue focus on the movement...

Several years ago I tried it A LOT with no success at all... only vibrations but messed up by impatience and high expectations... Only now I found a trick to get there easyly and must practise more to get out....
I lay myself on my side (to alow my body to almost fall asleep), as I cant sleep on my back... then I roll over gently on my back and put a hand on my stomach so it would'nt feel like I force myself into meditation but instead let my body think I am falling asleep... this helps to not get that nasty twitch my body sends me to roll on a side to sleep...
Then it's just a mather of watching and let go... at the right moment (PARALYSIS!) Try to induce movement

Please don't worry so much.  Energy is important but just because someone doesn't experience the vibes doesn't mean they are not producing energy.  I think the vibes are an effect of energy raising, but some people get the vibes , some don't. But you are still producing energy eventhough you don't feel any vibes.
I've projected many times and I do not get  the vibes.

Also another point,   Practicing.... Practicing is so important because it takes time to work and build up your mind and spirit.  Just like when a person tries to build muscles , it takes time and commitment to develop muscles, so does trying to project.  It takes time and patience and most of all it is fun.  It's fun to practice and learn and have experiences of your own through practice.
We are there for you  so don't get discouraged ok?

Ive been trying to 6 months and just recently realized Ive been doing it all wrong. What I do now is lay down, relax, get my eyes comfortable and then I begin to visualize an object thats in my living room. I fully visualize it in full vivid detail. Then after going through this object, I go onto another object, again in full detail. Sometimes I'll repeat a simple affirmation in my head like " I seperate from my body now". I do this until I become unconcious. I dont realize it, because I'm unconcious. Dont think about going to sleep, just keep your mind obsessed with these visualizations. If you fall asleep without a thought of your body in your mind, you have a good chance of waking up to intense vibrations, and then you should be able to seperate. But at the moment you go unconcious, you have to be still visualizing this stuff in your head.

Also, if you are repeating an affirmation in your head, it improves your chance of waking up to vibrations. If you are repetitively saying something in your head, chances are, you'll say it right before you go to sleep or even right after. Think about it, if you go to sleep(unconcious OOBE) and you tell yourself that you are out of body, your gonna realize it and your gonna get vibrations.

Another good idea is: Before you go to bed, read about out of body experiences for at least 15 minutes. Then go and write an affirmation on paper until you have it drilled in your head. Write something like "I'm going to leave my body tonight". That will get it into your subconcious and make it a little easier.

If you continue to do this, this begins to be almost like a ritual you do before attempting to project. If you do this for over 3 weeks, every day, it begins to be a habit, and then your chances of success are even greater. One of the things I do during the day is continually remind myself and believe that I'm gonna leave my body tonight. Keep your mind obsessed with out of body experiences. Because even if you dont wake up to vibrations, you might begin to dream about out of body experiences and that dream might turn lucid(realizing your dreaming, and therefore have absolute control. You could even change it into a out of body experience).

Good luck!! Your gonna project soon with this technique.
