Really?  Did you miss the part where most of us have been doing this for many years?
It took me 10+ years to be successful and to begin to understand what's going on.

So NOT a walk in the park.  LoL :)

The EASIEST way to leave your body?  Lots of hard work.

Set 10-20 alarms throughout the entire night and hope for the best.

You have to do more and more practice and then wait for some time.

Astralsuzy

The easiest way to leave your body is to practice and see what works for you.  It will help a lot if you believe that you can ap.  You may not ap but you are more likely to succeed if you do believe you can ap.  I have been practicing for about seven years now and I am still learning.  I think we all are.

Whatever you do, don't attempt to astral project in the evening, when you're about to go to sleep. It wouldn't work. OOBE happens naturally very often after 4 hours of sleep, followed by 1 hour of being awake.

  • Set an alarm, so you will sleep 4 hours.
  • Wake up and GET UP.
  • Read a book of forums for 1 hour.
  • Get back to bed.
  • Wait for the sleep paralysis to kick in
  • Then try ANY of the methods you learned online.

Works like a charm, and yes - it's like a walk in the park if you do it the right way.

Very wrong. If that were so... I wouldn't have had thousands of experiences and I wouldn't have taught others the same way.

If you want to do it on an evening... nap before hand. Simple.

I wish people would stop saying don't do it of an evening. It's just completely wrong advice and adds to one of those silly misconceptions.

Yeah I'm kinda in full agreement with Bedeekin.

The only fact anyone should be sharing is that everyone is different.
Some people do fine in the evening... some do better in the morning... some do better during the day... some do better during multiple times during the day.

You can't say with any precision that you shouldn't even bother trying during a certain time because YOU have a problems with it, or because you hear other people have problems with it.

A disciplined mind can project at anytime of the day.  You're really only limited by your own self-created limitation.  So break yourself out of your box and learn the discipline you need to project whenever you want.

I disagree with this.  I have ap a few times in the evening and I have had no sleep.  I could have ap more if I was more experienced and knew what to do.  Anyone can ap at night time.  If I can do it, then anyone can.  I am not special.  I am just like you.  The only thing I do is I practice.  The key of being successful is to practice, be determined and to be patient.

Know no others limitations.
These can hinder you. You'll find out for yourself as you progress as to what's applicable. Even the thought days earlier that it will fail can influence your attempt.
Go with what appeals and keep a distance from others experiences.

Very true, noticing this a lot as I try to match up other peoples experiences with my own
With intent, often times it seems 1 and 1 can equal 5.

I love your comment.

I have a question. I want more than anything ap. It's been months and months that I train. I have an incredible motivation. Many say they have a goal for AP. I think but I do not know why I want AP. Words are not enough.

Bedeekin, could you please provide more details as to your method? It sounds like an interesting idea, to nap shortly before core sleep. How much time before sleep and how long the nap? And what do you do once you go to bed "for real" - do you just let yourself fall asleep or do you try to phase or...?

Thanks!

Bedeekin has a fantastic sticky that he created that addresses all of those questions.

It's found here: http://www.astralpulse.com/forums/welcome_to_out_of_body_experiences/sleep_paralysis_the_whats_whys_and_wherefores-t38734.0.html

I  apologize for answering this for you Bedeekin. I figured you would have basically said the same thing.

Bedeekin

I would actually.  :-)

I can add... if you bare in mind that narcoleptics are the biggest 'sufferers' of Sleep Paralysis you can work out that short naps - which is a symptom of narcolepsy - increase the likelihood of getting to the right point.

In the morning it tends to work better if one gets up immediately upon waking and with the use of an alarm. Snoozing may result in an unconscious transgression into REM and a dream will ensue.

The reason why people find it difficult to induce on a night before sleep is because they are basically... tired... and ready to fall into much needed slow wave sleep. Having the nap earlier will give one the needed slow wave sleep. Generally you will wake before you slip into REM... I used to set an alarm to allow at least an hours nap. Then I would immediately get up after waking then wait anywhere between an hour to sometimes 4 hours until I finally induced.

There is a marked specific feeling between the nap and induction. When you wake up from a nap you should feel groggy and shivery. You are shivery because your body temperature has dropped... which happens to everybody just before they slip into REM. Have you ever fallen asleep in front of the TV or earlier than normal then woke up feeling cold, shivery and groggy? Normally people pick themselves up and stagger into the bedroom to get warm and cosy then slip right into REM sleep. Waiting till your core temperature raises and you aren't so groggy is the ideal time to induce.

In the past I have wrote so much about the 'nap' method I could write a book about it. lol

My advice would be to meditate every day.  You should try to enjoy meditating as that will make it easier to do.  I would try not to focus on ap as ap may not happen.  It may take a long time for it to happen.  When you get used to meditating your body gets more and more used to it and you train your body and mind to relax more easily.  I was doing really well but then I got tired of it so I stopped.  I wish I did not do that.  I want to do what I used to do.  You have to not worry about not aping because as I said it may not happen.  If you can persevere with it, it is worth it.   You cannot get disappointed if it does not work, otherwise you will not want to do it.  I was meditating every day for about an hour for many months every day.  I started doing it again for a few nights now.

It's going to be different for everybody honestly. I have OBE's before bed... when I wake up... during naps... in the middle of the day... Paralysis can hit me when I meditate... There are so many techniques out there. I would suggest trying a method you like for 30 days... and keep at it. Then try another method 30 days... Then another... and repeat. Basically like a month and each method and see what works best for you. You can create your own methods even. Just experience and see what works best for you!

PS: OBE's are so natural. You disconnect from your physical every night even if it's just a few inches above your physical. Good luck :- )

Astralsuzy

I know you are not going to agree with me.  The books do not agree with me.  From my experiences I have found ANY TECHNIQUE WILL WORK WHEN YOUR BODY AND MIND IS RELAXED ENOUGH.

Bedeekin, I had actually read your long post on SP, but couldn't remember any specifics regarding the nap timing. Thanks for providing more details. I will try this method in the nearest future.

I dont remember any one hear     using the term " walk in the park "  I have been trying for over 20 years and not got too far. Its not 100 % tho. I do live a normal working life . Its intense curiosity that drives me on .  I did will my self to give my cell phone # to any I might meet while out of body during sleep , and got some out of state calls where no one spoke . Its a belief that we all go out of body during sleep , but dont remember .         desert rat

For a baby, a walk in the park is years away.

Its not quite like that. I had success after 2 months of fastidious training.

Immerse yourself, read read read, and make your own conception of the phenomenon. Then trust yourself and follow through. You'll be there in no time.

It is something no one will ever be able to take away from you.

Cheers,
