Whatever you do, don't attempt to astral project in the evening, when you're about to go to sleep. It wouldn't work. OOBE happens naturally very often after 4 hours of sleep, followed by 1 hour of being awake.

  • Set an alarm, so you will sleep 4 hours.
  • Wake up and GET UP.
  • Read a book of forums for 1 hour.
  • Get back to bed.
  • Wait for the sleep paralysis to kick in
  • Then try ANY of the methods you learned online.

Works like a charm, and yes - it's like a walk in the park if you do it the right way.
Ive projected during the day for something to do

The easiest way to leave your body is, in the morning after you had some sleep, you let your whole body relax.  You keep repeating it until you ap.  What will happen is, your inner self becomes very relaxed and you just go out of yourself.  You do not have to do anything.

Death... haha... so true and yet so morbid.

I was thinking sleep. Technically, we all go NPR when we sleep. I almost see sleep as a mini death. In death, consciousness leaves the body. In sleep, consciousness also leaves the body. The body and its attachment to mind is what typically hinders full spiritual awareness during this time. The point is to cancel the body out and keep the mind awake. The body is just a corpse, at this point. Don't even associate with it or you may be drawn back. Just try hard to become aware of yourself as being a being that exists outside of your body. Whether you're in a LD, or in SP, in meditation, trance, or in the astral already, just focus on one thing: separating consciousness from body, and gaining control of awareness.

Just sail away. Sail away, sail away, sail away...  :-D I'm an Enya fan, yeah.

Fairywindblues, your avatar changes so often and so subtly, I'm starting to believe it is sentient. o_o;

Sleep, yes, good point. We could even start bringing up daydreams, getting in touch with the non physical that way. Or those times when you are really bored at work and your mind wanders away to another place.

I wonder how many minds would be blown if they suddenly realized how close they are to the non physical all the time. :)

I know that's not leaving your body, per say... but... I wanted to at least try to contribute to the conversation... @_@
Take to the sky, feeling so alive! Past the clouds to the Milky Way, share our secrets with the starry brigade. The stars surround us like a million fireflies. For once I see infinity... it's in your eyes.

ChopstickFox - I've finally settled on an avatar that I like - this one. I have a tad bit of an OCD problem and found issues with a lot of my avatars when this place converted them into a smaller size. Oh, and I have this lazy eye of doom that I'm slightly self conscious about. Just... don't ask. It's OCD.  I'm done changing it for now, I promise.  :-D

So, anyhow, lets say daydreams are always NP but they can go from having 20% clarity to 40% and so on, right, until the daydream becomes more in focus. If I don't hold on to the day dream, for example, and don't feed it energetically, it will trickle away and will fall apart. If I keep thinking of nothing but one thing but a while, though, the vividness of it will eventually increase.

And... this is sort of like having one foot in PR and one in NPR? Daydreams are the things I really know least about, oddly enough. I always thought it was just a compilation of images in our minds. I just recently learned of the notion that they are projections, as well.

FWB, Someone said that any focus away from the here and now, is to focus away from the physical. It is helpful to view it like that. There are just so many different states of consciousness, that it's hard not to just simplify it into PR and NPR. Since surely the different states would fit comfortably in one or the other.

AW, and I was just getting used to that "woman in deep thought" pose.

It actually reminded me of a picture I have of Einstein. Same pose, but much better looking!  :-D

Really?  Did you miss the part where most of us have been doing this for many years?
It took me 10+ years to be successful and to begin to understand what's going on.

So NOT a walk in the park.  LoL :)

The EASIEST way to leave your body?  Lots of hard work.
Xanth is correct.  You have to work at it and keep working at it.  I used to be able to ap without doing anything but not anymore.  I think that happens to some people then it does not happen anymore.  The easiest way to ap is to get some sleep first so you are not over tired.  If you are really tired you tend to fall asleep.

indeed all you need is practice and few ideas how to speed whole thing up.

fuzzywuzzy

It happens naturally for me in the morning. Usually for some reason I wake up before I actually have to get up and when I go back to sleep and wake up again, I'm already buzzing and in a state that allows me to just float out. In fact, if I just lay there and don't do anything, I involuntarily come out. I have to actively stop it if I don't want it to happen. I guess there is a really calm, meditative state of mind that you have to reach and it's easy to do in the morning. Try setting an alarm for 3 a.m., wake up fully (but you will still feel like you can sleep some more), then go back to sleep.
If you see someone in the astral riding around in a red bumper car, it's probably me.
