Why do we enter the non-physical?

Hey everyone!

So I understand that part of us ventures into the non-physical while we sleep. My question is, do we know why? What causes part of us to consciously, or subconsciously, do that? Why do we astral project each night? Thanks! If I'm not being clear, just let me know.

It's not even a conscious decision. You do it when you're dreaming because it is your natural "state". You "return" to this natural state, it's a bit of going back to where you came from, a sort of homecoming.

So the question could also be worded vice versa: Why do we enter the physical (from being non-physical) at all by incarnating into this heavy biological vessel when our true essence lies somewhere else?

That's a very interesting question aha. My best educated guess would be to learn what we can from this world to bring back to our original state.

Our physical body/vessel needs the opportunity to recharge itself. Our physical body undergoes a process of "regeneration" every night. This process wouldn't be able to occur if we were always consciously aware of this body. There needs to be a shut off switch of sorts.

During our sleep we also heal on a subconscious level as well. Reliving experiences and memories of past. Once again, harder to do at a consciously aware level.

My perspective is that you're not entering anything... in fact, you're projecting right this very second, you simply call it "being physically alive".  Projection is simply your consciousness shifting to another reality.  If you do this shift unconsciously, you're said to be "dreaming"... if you do this shift consciously or become aware afterwards while experiencing that other reality, then you're said to be "projecting".

This physical reality is every bit a "non-physical" reality as any reality you experience while "dreaming".

You *ARE* consciousness.  I view everything from that perspective.

It's hard to say that I'd rather stay awake when I'm asleep; because my dreams are bursting at the seams.
