Title: Your house in the astral world
Post by: Sarahinthesky on October 29, 2012, 03:34:35
Last week I had the joy of spending time in a place that ive visited my whole life but just recently became aware of.  In my dreams I often find myself in a house that is mine, with many many rooms.  This time I woke up and remembered it with amazing detail.  There was a red persian carpet, a long off white old fashioned sofa and a massive imposing stone fireplace that took up a whole wall.  Things were dusty but so comfy...  I have been here so many times!  Im in love with this place!

Everytime I come here I discover new rooms and am awed that Inever knew they were there.  I can't wait to go back....this isn't an astral prjection, nor was I lucid...  Anyone else have this "home away from home"?

I got several dream and astral locations, which i visited more than once. This is a special type of episode dream:

Quote(1.2.5.4.2.1.2.2.2) Dreams, which are not really a sequel, but play at the same location as the previous dreams of the same series. One recognizes after the dreams, that one has dreamed of the places already before. Even if the place is boring and unimpressive, and is in it's properties not diffrent from the places of "normal dreams". It is independent from the actual existing (or not existing) of this place in the reality. One remembers during such a dream very often (only) the previous parts of the same series of dreams. It is, as if ones own life has only taken place in this dream series and the single storyparts was part of ones own life.

I like also this kind of episode dreams, because their locations and storys are mostly very nice.

I find that very often if I am lucid in a dream I will recognize where my mind had used the "blueprint". Most of my dreams, no matter what is going on or what is around me, it uses my childhood home as the "template". But as an example, I might recognize the area used as the living room even though the setting is nothing like a house and might be miles large. It reminds me of a child's imagination when they play.

Sometimes this area has spanned to the entire town. Granted, nothing is the same. I flew from my "house" to the "bay", recognizing the streets below me and landmarks, but out in the bay was a huge factory out on the water. That's not there in the waking world.

I have actually been insanely curious if others have experienced this. I might be far off from what you're saying, though.

It has also happened with me once. I always used to discover new things in my own house.

Mine take place in my grandmas old house... that is usually mixed with other houses throughout my childhood. I usually go to investigate the rooms. I am aware in the dream that I am very familiar with it and sometimes remember past visits. Sometimes I go foraging in what I perceive as my parents room because it is filled with interesting trinkets.

The house is always dusty and slightly derelict although like you Sarah... I love it. I am very familiar with it and although the old part that my gran used to live in is slightly spooky I love it.

Hi,
Old houses in poor condition with dust everywhere are more common than clean houses. There's always something different and they are always bigger.
Im moving home too shortly so I've got to look in the attic. Might have been there already in a recent dream.

I was for awhile having recurring dreams over and over of being in a house or building of some sort, and exploring through a huge series of stairways, ladders, hidden doors and passages (kind of like a maze) which would always end up leading me out through a hatch on the roof, and I always knew the way. After having that dream a few times over the period of a few months I would start to recognise it as a dream and that's what would wake men into lucidity, but sadly I have not been back here for some time.

It kind of makes me want to build a "maze" house just like it

That has happened to me ever since I can remember. I have 5 or 6 frequent places that I dream of. Most times it's not just a house but also an entire city or outdoors place. Sometimes I find out where these places are. For example, I have found that this city I was travelling to in duzens of dreams was in Italy and I have never been there before so I couldn't have know how it looked like. I believe I have lived there in a past life and that I go back in a dream sometimes because I loved the place so much.

I was going to add that on my last post actually. That my dream narratives very commonly take place in a distinct almost constrained version of my hometown Middlesbrough... I have also consciously visited it when out of body. The difference with the OOBEs is there is no narrative... just me walking around comparing notes and revisiting the places I dream about. Something even more interesting is that two other people share the same version with me when they dream. Dream Middlesbrough. even more interesting... is that one (like me) used to live there... the other doesn't and is half our age.

When I say share... I don't mean we are there at the same time and meet up... I mean they are the same warped version of the town. Enough to be able to have conversations like "I was in Dream Middlesbrough again last night" "yeah?" "I was behind the town centre" "oh... yeah... the downtrodden area with the gypsy IRA nasties living in the streets" "yeah I was made to walk through it" "hate ending up there" "yeah... "  :-D

There is no nasty area behind the town centre in reality... it's quite... nice. But all three of us experience it as a squalid almost Dickensian network of small streets that have dodgy gypsy like gangster like people lurking about and kids on the corners of the streets with snotty noses and stained vests.

Hi,
What if all dreams were put on a database and an identity parade was made?
Commonalities galore.
Maybe dreams do occur in some conciousness created reality. This would fit in with the heaven and hell construct.
Time will tell.

My dreams most often take place in my old childhood house in Texas or my grandparent's house. I hardly have dreams of houses in Utah (where i live now), only at my current work. My previous houses usually have people who I have relationships with presently, which usually sends me off into a lucid dream because I think (wait a second, I didn't know these people when I lived here).

It is amazing how rooted we are in the memories we had between the ages of 1 and 6. We don't realise it at the time and barely recognise it my the time we are adults.
