Hi I was wondering if anyone knew if the state i reach when I feel deeply relaxed and start to feel the vibes, numbness and tingling, and feeling like I'm looking inward or an inward energy is growing
could be considered the theta brainwave state (whew, that was a long sentence).

I can reach this state fairly easily and was wondering if maybe I could do some self hypnosis while there
...might as well... ;)

thanks

Recently I figured how to create that tingly, vibes feeling to! I'm thinking it might possibly be psi energy.  :-D

Is the theta state the state you are in right as you are in between being awake and going to sleep?Or the state your in right as your waking up from sleep? If it is i have read in a few books on astral projection that they are both really good states to be in for astral projection because of the relaxed state of mind your in and because it allows you to reach the mind awake body asleep state. :-)

I haven't heard that word before.

*Goes to the Library and checks out 4320420 books*

But I'd say that the theta state must be just that or something really close to it.

Remember...

Word are just labels!

P.S. Hey zorgblar!

There are 4 brain wave levels.

1. Beta (Awake)   2. Alpha ( Just before awake - Meditation)
3. Theta is the Somnambulistic State which has 3 levels
a. Somnambulism b. Deep Somnambulism and 3. Profound Somnambulism which is the ( Lucid Dream State - Sleep Walking - Hypnotic State - Astral State)
Beyond Profound Somnambulism is the Esdaile State, the Catatonic State and the last is the Sichort State (Ultra-Depth).
4. Delta (Profound Sleep State) Conscious turned off no awareness and no dreams occur.

Sincerely,

Yes, I also get it recently though when I use it more and more it's been making me weak right now even it is making me sweat. Although I can manipulate it, shape it, even use it as a tracking device, although it is hard to do. Unfortunately that is all I can do, I still have a lot to learn. Even so though I have a heritage of people who could theta heal so for me it is genetic. They are often called traiteur, if you know any please contact me.

How do you reach that state fairly easy pls I mean what is your technique? (just curious)
And to pyroIsh; what do you mean you can use it as a tracking device? pls explain.

Yes, you can self-hypnotise at theta. But the conundrum is, that when in theta you become distant from the problem at hand.. ie. you tend to daydream gratuously rather than solve a problem.
The best way is:
1. Relax without sleeping - sit rather than lie down cos that reduces your chances of drifting off to sleep.
2. Do something like count breaths for 10 or 15 minutes, or stare at a candle or whatever you do when you meditate.
3. For self-hypnosis, have a resolve firmly at the back of your mind and keep it there, similar to the method in Yoga Nidra.
4. Contrary to common belief, you don't have to be in theta for hypnotic suggestions to work, so do that when you are simply relaxed and repeat your suggestion THREE times.
5. There's a lot LOT more that I can say about different methods and ways to make suggestions, but That's it in a nutshell.
I'd be happy to expand and also answer queries by email - tlantzakis@aol.com. I'm a clinical hypnotherapist and that's my public email, so publishing my email address is not a problem to me.
I also do hypnosis CDs, if it will help. Personally, I can get into theta, but not beyond to astrally project.. BUMMER! I do visualize in theta (everybody does) and I've tried some magic with small but real success too.
