So who created this island?

I've always skipped the API section because I never felt nearly accomplished enough to get there. But over the last couple years I've gained some good experience and at the spur of the moment, I decided to give it a try. It didn't take long for me to get a good view (if that was really it and not a scene from my own mind). The pyramid seemed what made it easier than I imagined, and got me thinking:

Who's idea was it for the pyramid, and is there a reason for it? Does it correspond to a certain area of consciousness or a symbol of anything else? Is there a deeper meaning to it? Maybe it's just a landmark to help get there?

And who were the originators of the island? Was it a group of physical people? Anyone still here? It seems I remember Frank talking about building a swimming pool there or something, but skimming over past posts, I don't see too much info on these things.

Hi Stookie, The Astral Locale thread appears to be a history of how the concept started and discussion of how to compose the reference image.

I think that the pyramid idea was a consensus and provides an easy to distinguish awe inspiring image when set juxtapose in the tropical island scene.

I recall a post about how the interior of the pyramid can be used freely to create classroooms, libraries, portals, only limited by imagination.

I'm hoping that the experiment continues for at least another 20 years, to give me time to catch up.  :-)

Is the experiment still ongoing? The last post in this section before Stookies was back in May. I thought everyone had forgotton about API.

I wondered about that myself - does anyone maintain it? If no one focuses there for a while, won't it dissipate away? I guess domestic astral-inhabitants could keep it going. I bet Frank's pool has a good number of leaves in it by now. Maybe that's where he's at.

That's a very nice thought, Stookie. It sounds like an experiment to check on the experiment is in order. Is anybody accomplished enough to look into this?
