Title: body conditioning (Core Program)
Post by: Nick on July 22, 2003, 08:55:51
Hi kifyre,

I did look this up on Amazon. It was rated 5 stars by 25 customers (a top rating). The editorial reviews also raved about the book. It is geared towards women as you mentioned, so maybe I'll order one for my wife (and then read it too). Thanks for the recommendation.

Very best,

I'm recommending The Core Program by Peggy Brill, P.T.

Used with care and awareness, this is an excellent book for beginners and for people who are looking to get back to the basics and straighten out their bodies.

The books is an "everyday" workout that targets the core of the body: shoulders, chest, stomach, mid-back, lower back, pelvis, and hips. It's designed to strengthen, but, more importantly, balance the muscles in these areas.

The best part about the book is that it has three levels. You start with the core foundation, then intermediate core, then ultimate core. So, any skill level and ability can begin this program.

The exercises can all be done at home, and there is a full body resistance (weights) program for the upper and lower body in the back. First weight lifting program where I don't feel like I'm damaging some parts of my body to strengthen others.

My posture, martial arts flexibility and stability, and feeling of body-comfort have all greatly improved in the 4-6 months I've been using this book.

Finally, the book is designed specifically for the female body. (Note: I'm a guy. And I have a guy body. :))

If you're looking for a place to get started, this is a good book. If you want to correct imbalances, this is a good book.
