I have not read it,usually books that are not somewhat modern do nothing for me. However Rudolf Steiner, the founder of a few esoteric schools, was really into Goethe and made frequent references to him in his lectures.
In the world in general and in this nation
May not even the names disease, famine, war, and suffering be heard.
May virtuous qualities, merit, and prosperity greatly increase
And may continuous good fortune and subline well-being perfectly arise.

Greetings,

This is not a review as such. I am wondering and would like to know if anyone here has read this play and if so what did you think of it?

Please don't confuse this with any of the other version/tales of Faust (or Faustus) which tell the story in a much different tone, basically reinforcing the R.C. Church's public opinion that magic is evil and the work of the devil.

I have yet to read Faust but have heard good things about it so in addition to a review I would really appreciate it if you could tell me what translation you read and what you found it's good/bad points to be.

I know this wont rank on many 'must-read' bibliographies (unless your really into literature) but it is based on occult topics and a little light reading is always nice to have. [:)]

With best regards,

Dave
