My library doesn't have it.  Do you have another reccomendation?  Something deeper than Buddhism for dummies, but also something that isn't a religious treatise?

Hi,
I wouldn't describe this as a dummies guide. It is a far more educated approach and describes without preaching. It is more like a description of the different branches and beliefs. I found it helpful to decide which branch was best suited on a personal level while giving a overall picture of how it developed. I think it helps to know what branch you are personally drawn to

Have you asked your library if they will try to get this book?

Hi,
This is a good book for academic study if you are wanting to find out more about tibet, it's history and the difference branches of tibetan buddhism and beliefs. I think it was quite expensive, though. Maybe best for those who deeply feel inclined. It is by John Powers.
