A lasting vision of a black dog after waking up.

You're not cursed or anything as far as I know. You probably have a strong sixth sense or whatever you call it. However, I have heard of black dogs and it could be an omen of some sort. Small children often see shadow people, creatures, or animals because they are naturally psychically strong at that age. As long as this isn't reoccuring, I don't think you have any need to worry.

First off I don't think it was a nightmare because nightmares are while sleeping it could have been a partial OBE, overactive imagination considering the age, or it could have been psychic vision like findtruth said.  Also I'd like to say that an odd statistic I heard is that the most common hallucination for somebody going through withdrawl is a black dog.[]

Whoa, that is really creepy and reminds my of a similiar experience when I was younger. But it wasn't a black dog, it was a black cloaked and shadowy figure. I woke up in the middle of the night, and I couldn't move, I was under sleep parylysis or however you spell it, and I had this really creepy vibe that something "evil" was in my room watching me. I looked infront of me and floating near the back wall of my room was this cloaked shadowy figure just floating there motionless and staring at me. I started freaking out but I couldn't move, and then it this thing, whatever it was started floating towards me really really slowly, as if mocking me because I couldn't move. Right before it got about a couple feet from me I broke free from the parylysis and I just lay there all shaking and wondering what the hell was going on because it was so real.

I once had this nightmare as a child around 3 or 4. Make no mistake though even at this age I was very aware of adult concepts nor did I belive in ghosts or have any fear of them.
Well actually I'm not sure what to call it, I was sleeping (of course) but i woke up for some reason laid there for a sec or so then looked up at the wall in front of me where a saw a very intimidating looking black dog staring it's eyes staring directly at me it was completly real looking not vauge at all very well defined it's eyes clearly visable and fixated on me.
Being a young kid this scared the excrement outta me, especially since i was awake and seeing this. I quickly put my head under the blanket and waited for it to go away thinking that I may still be half asleep or that my eyes weren't adjusting on somthing right. So after wainting probably abou 2 mins and rubbing my eyes thinking it has gotta be some kind illusion, I mean I knew it couldn't be real. I looked out again and it was still there staring at me so i got really panincked but was afraid to make any noise or move very much at all so I slid the blanket over my eyes again waiting for it to disappear and praying. I waited for I little while longer than the last time before looking up agian, but when i did it was still there, so then I just started screaming like a mofo while still i could see at staring at me perfectly still the whole time. I probably saw this creature for at least 5 - 10min. My mother finally came and i was screeming about it but she didn't see it she turned the light on & it was over then i saw nothing but a blank wall.

That is definatly the worst nightmare I've ever had & the only one while i was awake. I've would like to know what someone who knows anything about dream inturpetation would say about that.  Some one else gave me some links to sites about pranormol sightings of black dogs and what saw very much matched their description.
Any one please know anything about what that could mean, am I cursed damned or WTF? Why appear to me?
