A rather strange (and disturbing) dream.

Yuck.

Well I've gotten pretty good at interpreting friends' and relative's dreams-- only because I ask a lot of inane questions AND know the people they know and the things they are experiencing in life so I can put 2 and 2 together quickly.  It helps to have been an English major... I interpret dreams like poems for class, wring out every bit I can, connect as much as possible.  And actually I love to hear their dreams because often it gives me clues about things they might not ordinarily share.  So anyway... it goes like this:

What do you feel about snakes? Ever have one? Met one? Like them? What do they feel like? What color do you like? What color was this one? What else do you have that is that color? How would you describe a snake... or that color... to a blind person or a martian?  Does a snake or snake experience or behavior from your past or general knowledge share any characteristics with any person or event in your life? Or has it ever? What was the weather like? What were you wearing? Where were you?  Have you ever been there?

Dreams are not always current, sometimes they sum up or check in on an old situation.  Who eats like that?  Who has swallowed you and mushed you into oblivion and it didn't bug you, or doesn't anymore?  Or is there another person who you know, who is being dominated by a slippery person?  Are they calling for help? Are they making up fantastic stories? Are they fond of reptiles? Etc. etc.

The next step is to go back and reinterpret everything, this time see yourself in everything.  What about you is like a snake?  What do you want to destroy or overpower? Do you feel sort of bad about it? (or, if you like snakes, do you feel good about it...) Apply this rule also to non living dream symbols, such as colors, odors, textures, buildings, surroundings, etc.

Finally, often the total and all-explaining (well, almost) clue to a dream is some silly detail overlooked.  Like, oh and the snake had one blue scale... it was the same color as that blue dress Nancy wore... you know she OOOOHHHHHH.  Like that.

Hmm, the thing is I like snakes, not scared of them in the least.

Actually, I think the only reason I dreamed this was because my mind remembered this one movie named Anaconda.

Perhaps it is a dream about change.  According to Robert Bruce the primary spiritual circuit is the Kundalini circuit - the snake.   So, taken as a spiritual metaphore, it represents your fear of the total obliteration of the self you now identify with in the coming possible spiritual metamorphosis.  The ending, I think, is more to the point - you fear there will be nothing left, though you vehemently object and retain consciousness throughout, and are not really hurt by the process.

Perhaps it is telling you to 'fill out' the ending of the dream, to explore what you could possibly be 'reborn' into after having been 'melted down'.  Perhaps you are being asked not to have so much fear, that it is an ending, but even then life goes on - Make the most of it!

Then again, maybe you had some bad anchovies on your pizza last night.  [:P]

Last night I had a large number of dreams in sequence.  One of them, in particular, bears mentioning.  As if seeing it through someone else's eyes, I saw a giant snake (probably an anaconda) attack and swallow me.  In not sure if it was another person in the dream, or myself taking on a specific role, but as often happens in my dreams part of me was observing everything in a detached manner.  The dream character who's eyes I saw this through was pulled up into the snake, passing into its stomach.  Digestive juices started oozing out of the walls, and the person began shrieking in agony, occasionally shouting out "OH GOD! OH GOD!  NO STOP!"  After awhile they had been digested until there was little left but mush, although my own consciousness lingered.

Although quite disturbing, I wasn't scared at all, although I did feel part of what was going on it didn't hurt, if anything I was detached during the whole grisly affair.  What I'm wondering is, is there any sort of meaning behind this dream?

(As a side note, fortunately something like this could not happen in real life.  You would suffocate long before the snake's stomach acids began to burn you.)
