A very vivid dream

I occasionally have vivid dreams, but not often.  However, I had a dream a few weeks ago that I just haven't been able to stop thinking about..

I was with my brother and my sister, in a forest.  At first glance it was similar to a wooded trail we had behind the home we lived in several years ago.  I could tell it was late Autumn or early winter, the trees all around were bare, and the ground was completely covered with leaves.

The three of us were walking down a path in the forest, down a gently sloping hill.  We were talking about various random things.. Not long after, the path came to a small stream.  It was clear and shallow, forming small rapids as it rushed over some stones.

At this point in the dream, I began to hear a beautiful and haunting female voice in the distance, singing some sort of a song... The words were not in English, or any other language I could recognize.  I distinctly remember hearing that song echoing through the wooded hills, and her voice mingling with the rushing water sound of the stream.

I turned to my sister and my brother, and asked them if they could hear the song.  They indicated to me that they did not.  They continued their conversation, which was about something silly.. Mountain Dew or something mundane like that, when they started to cross the shallow stream.

A rock face had appeared on the other side of the stream, which the two of them proceeded to climb.  I started after them, climbing up at a normal pace I suppose.. I remember glancing up and seeing them reach the top well before me.  As I reached the top and climbed up over the lip of the small cliff, I could see them ahead of me, disappearing into trees.

At that moment before I could do anything, something rushes at me from the side, and knocks me off the cliff.  I could not see it, it was a vague white shape.  I fall, with some sort of weight on my upper chest and neck.  I fall into the water (Which is now a deep, wide river instead of a shallow stream) and I sink downward, looking up at the sky through the crystal clear rushing water.  I stop struggling with the weight on my body and I think to me myself "No, not now..."  After a moment more I.. appear to accept it, somehow.  In the context of the dream, I accept my drowning, and I pretty much say something along the lines of 'Here I come God!'

While in the context of the dream I appear to be about to dye at the end, I did not wake getting a 'Death' impression from the dream.   The only other insights I might be able to offer is my relationship with my brother and sister has always been close, but we don't see eye to eye now a days on several subjects.

This dream has stayed with me for a long time..  I'd like to hear some opinions about.. The dream was too beautiful and vivid to forget totally.

Perhaps it is just personal reinforcement that you are happy with the life you've lived, you are not afraid of dying, and you're reassured in the fact that you know more awaits you at the end of this life.

Kind of like signifying "congratulations, you have done it!"

:o Hello Anerin

I have also had many dreams like the one you described, and was left wondering what on earth they mean.  But in my experience, dreams do not usually (I say usually, not always) use imagery literally.  In other words, the river in your dream is probably not a literal river, etc.  In my case, I have been having dreams of being in huge houses looking for something, walking down loooong hallways looking in each room, etc.  Well, I have discovered these dreams actually are tools used to "hint" to my physical mind of something spiritual.   For the most part, you only can interpret your dreams for they are usually given to you by your inner self "in code," as hints or suggestions.  Ask your inner self for help in this -- I was helped in this way.  And by finally receiving help from my inner self, many of the other dreams I remember are beignning to make sense.

Some things which I might suggest regarding your dream (this is not an interpretation...just some thought on imagery and what the inner self may mean by it):  the singing voice may signify your inner voice...which no one else can hear but YOU.  The thing which jumps on you may signify a hindrance in your life to hearing that voice.  The river experience may signify that you have accepted that you have been thwarted from continuing on some inner journey and are resigned to whatever happens.

These are just thoughts, so please don't accept them as the gospel truth or an interpretation.  In my experience, dreams are often very personal and require deep inner searching to understand.

Greetings and blessings to you. Allow me to offer up a personal interpretation of your dream.

Death in dreams usually signifies a great transition in life, much like the death trump in the Tarot deck. The fact that your death was beautiful and peaceful is a good sign. Your distancing and eventual forceful separation from your siblings is probably the Universe telling you that your paths in life are simply different. The voice you heard early on would be worth exploring further. You can do this through meditation. I am guessing that since you didn't seek it out at first, it expressed itself forcefully to you later on in the dream.

I encourage you to find your own meaning in this beautiful experience. There are endless gateways within ourselves, and you seem to have stumbled upon a particularly beautiful one.

Peace.
Between black and white is a whole spectrum of color - in your heart, in your hair, in your eyes, in the sky. Sleep in gradients like the truth.
