Controlling Lucid Dreams

So for some reason in the last couple of months I began Lucid Dreaming like never before. I never Lucid dreamed until a few months ago and when that started every few weeks or so I have a Lucid Dream. Anyway I have little control in the dreams and am wondering how can I improve that? I also seem to wake up quickly but today I had a longer than usual LD but can no longer remember it. How do I improve that too?

I have lucid dreamed ever since I was young but I do sometimes have trouble with this but have gotten more control lately. For one start with basic things. Just like the saying "walk before you run," try taking control of your actions rather then try to change your entire surrounds. For example: obviously realizing that you are dreaming is the first step, and that whatever happens will not carry on to your waking life. If you feel the need to say something to someone that you are scared to otherwise then say it, it's quite liberating. Or if a story is playing out before you and you are worried how it will end, let go of that fear. I just use these as examples because usually my dreams involve a problem or confrontation that needs to be solved, I am not sure what is the usual baseline of your dreams. You have to slowly train your dream self that there are no limitations. This is hard because in dreams there are usually story lines we feel trapped in.

I have the same problem and have tried experimenting with a few different techniques. Looking at my hands, staying calm, etc. I find what works best is moving around (never staying still) and focusing on my surrounding taking note of all the colors and objects, also trying to increase the sensitivity of your body, make it so you feel everything, the weight of your body, the sensation on your hands.

So basically dont get to excited or to calm and focus on your environment.

I find the best way to remember Lds or dreams in general is to go over them in your mind as soon as you wake up

When you realize that you are dreaming and you want to control your dream then start doing some reality checks like rubbing your hands together, pinching a nose etc. This will definitely help you in controlling your dreams.

When you realize or become aware that you are Dreaming, you are already in control! The hand rubbing, pinching your nose is just to heighten your awareness. You may not be able to control the other people's/entity's actions, but you can your own.

If your just going along with the dream and not changing anything, then it means you're not aware enough to invoke intent. When you can muster up enough intent to scream "I'M IN CONTROL!!!" in your dream (or rubbing your hands or whatever works for you), you're good to go. Personally, I like to scream and announce to the dream world that I'm the king.

It's fun to be in control and manipulate your surroundings, but honestly I don't think we were meant to do this every time. What if all of our dreams were like this, and no story line ever played out? Our dreams teach us something about our reality and help us solve difficult life problems. Lion heart is right about how we can control our actions but not the actions of others, and there is obvious more then one reason for that. How boring dreams would be if we were the ones who had to make the effort to will everything while we went along.

What you are saying is totally relying on a premise that we fully create the dream environment... or that Lucid Dreams are separate from 'AP'.

Maybe you misunderstood me. I was suggesting what it would be like if we did completely create our dream reality, and how things would be drastically different if we never had a story line given to us. Maybe we do create all of it but if that is the case it is never completely conscious. We might not fully create our dreams but we definitely play a role in how things span out. Also when we AP we might be choosing our journeys but sometimes it feels like they choose us and we didn't have much say in it. I was only pondering.

Now this I definitely agree with. I didn't Consciously create my Astral School. I just found myself in it and observed what was going on. I created my Safe Zone though, but have been in the area many times when something new was found and that in turn led to the Quest of the session.
