Having trouble taking advantage of lucid dreams...

Lately I've been becoming lucid in my dreams a lot.

I'm very happy about this, because before 2 months ago I had only two lucid dreams in my life, and now I have them twice a week. :)

But when I'm in a dream, it seems like I'm not myself.  I don't have my desire to experiment or fly or go anywhere when I find out I'm dreaming.

I don't know why, I plan to do things like flying and going to the moon... all sorts of crazy things, but once I'm in a dream, I don't care anymore.

I don't know why this is.  It's as if I can think only 5% as well in a dream as I can when I'm awake.  I just completely forget how much I want to fly, go places and do things in my dream.   Eventually I even forget I'm dreaming, and it becomes just a regular dream.

Why do I think like a different person in my dreams?  Why don't I have the same desires in my dreams as I do when I'm awake?  Anyone else notice this, or are you able to do the things you want to in your lucid dreams?

It's very frustrating because now that I finally have the ability to control my dreams, but I lose my motivation everytime the opportunity comes along.

I know EXACTLY what you are talking about.

It's really frustrating isn't it?  You wake up and think to yourself, "how could I have forgotten that I wanted to...blah blah blah"

I think it's the level of lucidity.  Sometimes I know I'm dreaming, but carry on regardless.  Other times I'm so awake in the dream, it's untrue.

I'm learning that once I become lucid, I have to remind myself just how lucid I am every few seconds, either by clapping or saying "lucid" or some such thing.  And then when I get those moments of complete clarity, I do something really "physical" like say out loud my address or telephone number.

So next time you think to yourself, "hey, I'm dreaming" try not to leave it there.  Stop a minute and say to yourself, "what is it that you want to do?" and rack your brains to remember.

I've had more lucid dreams in the last few months than I ever have had, and it's hit and miss with how lucid I am.

We all find nonsenses to believe in; it's part of being alive.

my lucid dreams were normally like this. theyve started getting alot better recently, in some cases ive had complete awareness and been able to "walk" around my house. however this is still quite rare, im usually very ignorant and immidiately wander off and carry on with the dream.

Well it's nice to know I'm not the only one with this problem.

I wonder why though... I wonder why we're so lazy in our dreams.

Thanks for the replies, like I said, it helps to know I'm not alone with my problems.

i dont think its a case of lucid or not lucid, but a scale of lucidity. some lucid dreams are just more clear than others, though im not sure what factors effect it.
