Hi not sure if this will help
But if you intend to remember your dreams before you go to sleep,
then, if you awaken from a dream in the night, or remember a dream when you wake in the morning, write it down straight away
otherwise if you go back to sleep or get up and go about your day you may forget the dream no matter how memorable you think it may be

Sometimes it happens that when I wake up I cant remember anything but like after an hour I suddenly remember my dream. Do you know about a method to get your dream back once you have awoken and can not remember it?

It often happens to me that as I go through the day and see something which reminds me of the dream, the memory comes back.
So if you awake in the middle of the night and dont want to get up and write the whole of your dream, just write one or two words which then you can use to recall the dream.

another question..
is the length of your sleep connected to your dream recall?
I think that when you sleep for 9 hours or so its very hard to remember your dreams, although when you sleep for 7 hours, its much easier

Hi there... I'm currently reading about Lucid Dreaming and according to Stephen Laberge (lucid dreaming "guru") your dreaming occurs during REM-sleep. They get longer and longer through the night and after 6 hours sleep they could be as long as an hour. To be better at recalling dreams you should have a dream-journal just besides your bed - if you wake up after a dream, you should be able to recall it - but if you get up or let the thought slip away it could be gone before you know it. So you have to quickly write down some keywords about your dream. Next morning you could look at the words and then they should give some sort of meaning.

To wake up just after a dream you could try autosuggestion. Say to yourself just before you go to sleep "I will wake up after each dream" (repeat it so that it is the last thought you have before sleeping) according to Laberge we all wake up briefly after dreams for 10-15 seconds - we can't always remember it - but if you do suggestions like the one suggested - you should become aware of being awake and you should be able to improve your dream-recall quite a lot...  good luck
