Hello Everyone,

I have been a member of this board for a while but only lurked, then for the past several months I got very busy and haven't visited until today.

I have never astral traveled, well at least not intentionally.  ;)  I use to meditate on a daily bases and practiced other spiritual endeavors, then something happened and I got lost.

Well now, I am trying to find my way back, that includes learning to astral travel at will.  I am starting by trying to remember my dreams and write in my dream journal again.  Well that is going to be step one, I don't really have a step two yet, but figure step two will make itself apparent as I go along.

I have been reading and have read in the past that there are different types of dreams.  In a nutshell, some of the types of dreams are...  Messages from your inner self, or your inner self on a journey in the astral/dream world, and or astral experience translated into images that we (as physical beings) might understand.

So my question is how do you tell which type of dream you've had?  What characteristics and/or signs are there in your dream that might help identify which dream you've had?

I would appreciate any help, advice, or guidance.

Thank you,
Sianna

I've never heard of classifying dreams.. but there are some that are prophetic.
I think it is close to impossible to be sure what a dream means, unless you wake up knowing the meaning right away, which for me is not often.
You can anazalyze a dream in so many ways, that you could find many different could-be meanings.

I suppose in after you've had a dream, after you write it down, you should try to think about the most evident 'characters' or themes in your dream. Not necesarily the ones with the biggest role in the dream, but the ones that impacted YOU the most.
Then look at what you wrote down, and do the same thing.
After that, I'm not really sure what you could be able to do except try to connect symbols or ppl.
Hope this was some help, and please, other people post here! Sianna asked some questions i'm interested in too!

OrionsDream thank you for your input.

I'm not really trying to find out how to interpret my dreams (ie find the hidden meaning or message in them).  I'm sure there really isn't any concrete thing that will let you know 100% what your dream is.  Let me explain it a little differently and maybe I will make better sense.

I have had a handful of dreams where I am not me I am someone else.  I also have had dreams where things are really odd, not normal.  I realize that dreams don't always make sense or follow the conventions of our physical world, but some of my dreams are beyond that, as if they are taken place in a different world, dimension, or something.

I understand that we have OBEs in our sleep whether we believe in OBEs or not, we all do it.  So, I can't help but wonder if some of my dreams are memories of OBE's and/or past lives, future lives, or even a life in a different world or something.

I was wondering if this could be true and if so, are there certain attributes that might help confirm or suggest that a particular dream is a past/future life, or OBE, etc.

I hope that makes more sense and that people will contribute their 2 pennies.

Well, I'm not a big know it all about OBEs, I have not tried them for some time, but if you are to expierence past lives and that kind of thing, sleep and dreams would be the place. The subconcious is much more open then.

I think that if you dream you are *someone* else, *somewhere* else, it could be a good bet that the dream has come from a past life, or maybe is OBE, or future life.
Whenever I talk to people about dreams, it is almost always a dream where they were them, as in not some1 else like you have expierenced.

For me, the few dreams I have that include me being someone else, are the hardest to remember, and I'm lucky to get snippits of them. That's pretty cool that you can!

But yeah, like I said, it can be safe to assume that if you dream to be someone else, then it is not a regular dream, especially if it takes place somewhere else. I don't know how to determine it as a past/future life or OBE though..
But again, I've become interested in this topic too!! So please, other ppl who might know more, or might know different things, P-O-S-T here!!
