Where did my dreams go?!

Hi everyone,

I have studied lucid dreaming and dreams (along with astral projection) for probably about 20 years. When I was a kid... My dreams were very vivid and lucid dreaming was alot easier.. Now that I am 31, Its almost impossible to remember my dreams most of the time. It is like I am not dreaming, even though I know I am.

Occasionally I wake up in the middle of the night and do my reality test which for me, is holding my nose tight and trying to breath in through it.. I discovered years ago that this method works well when i  realized I could breath under water in my dreams. The wierd thing is, I wouldnt do this reality test if I were not having some sort of unsettling dream but I can never remember the dream even though I remember doing the reality check.

Occasionally I will remember a dream if I am woken up or something but they fade alot faster than they used to. I am the kind of person now that I cant afford to move around much if I wake up in the middle of the night to make a recording or write in a dream journal, or I will not be able to get back to sleep and I only sleep about 6 hours usually per night during the week which may be part of it.

Anyway, I just was wondering if anyone else was experiencing this type of thing and had any tips or remedies for it. I really want to be able to dream like I used to and am trying to get back into astral projection so i think lucid dreaming is a good first step. Another wierd thing is sometimes when I do remember a dream... It is dark and kind of twisted. Alot of times involving death and/or or ghosts.

I'm at a loss so any help with these matters would be great! :)

Thanks

Trea

1) You are getting up in the morning and not snoozing because of a very regulated sleep pattern...

2) you are very busy at work... or...

3) you are smoking too much weed.

Delete as applicable and remedy by stopping.  :-D

1. I am not sure what you mean exactly... I hit the snooze on my alarm constantly every morning for about an hour before I actually get up.

2. I am very busy at work.

3. I never smoke weed or do any type of drugs so that isn't an issue.

I am sure there are other alternatives other than quitting my job to solve this problem... as much as I would love to be able to not work.. I can't. :)

Bedeekin

You don't need to quit your job.

It's strange that you aren't dreaming between your hour of snooze. Maybe set your alarm an hour and a half before... or 2...

You basically need to come out of slow wave and enter REM. Maybe your current alarm setting has been assimilated and become the norm. You maybe need to interrupt your cycle.

Or nap in the evening for half an hour or more then when you go to bed later you should dream.

Try polyphasic sleep... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Polyphasic_sleep

When I'm busy at work it effects my morning dreaming so I set my alarm for 4am... gives me 2 hours dream sleep or a projection if Im lucky. I'm a before sleep OOBEr.  :-)

Volgerle

try supplements: B-Vitamins combined with Lecithin

try crystals (under pillow or around neck during sleep): Amethyst, Moldavite, Astrophyllite could do the job, but there are some more recommended on gemstone advisory sites, just check them out

Bedeekin

Or spit on a grave, turn around three times and tie a leprechaun to your left ear.

I have heard about different crystals and pendants etc that are supposed to have energy or change your energy.. honestly I have never believed in those type of things but I am starting to come around to the possibility of at least trying it. Thx I will check that out.

b-vitamins and lecithin are proven to work to improve memory in general, thus dream memory too, many have confirmed this, here are other threads where these two types of supplements are recommended for memory enhancement

as regards crystals: it's a kind of experiential science, people have effects with crystals when they use them, as compared to when they don't, so it's statistics, I certainly had / have effects, so it's based on EXPERIENCE and observation

stating that they have no effect and playing the Randi here is at least as much based on superstitious belief (especially in view of the many positive attests by many EXPERIENCErs) as stating they do without trying them out

that's why I always recommend to some people who want to try out new methods to give it a shot, it might work or not, there is certainly no guarantee

it's good at least to to try out new shoes, if they fit and it works for you, keep them, if it doesn't drop it and try sth else,

and stones.. for some people it works, for some not, easy as that

Bedeekin

I was being facetious. You took it the right way.

I always say take a nap to improve your chances of having an OOBE... people say there's no need... I say, what's the harm... do it anyway.

I recommend try the Moldavite, I had some very vivid and 'memorable' dreams with Moldavite some time ago. It is also recommended as a 'dream enhancement stone' in literature (e.g. Book Of Stones or Crystal Bible). I even came to call them "Moldavite dreams" as they seemed to have a flair and 'texture' of their own to them, they were also very long and had useful 'messages'. When I did not use Moldavite I did not have these kinds of dreams. So there is some degree of observation in what I say.

Furthermore, there were also 'energetic' effects with this kind of crystal when wearing it. E.g. when meditating with a Moldavite each in both hands, my fingers and then hands 'started to vanish' suddenly or they started to send out 'pulses', it wasn't my own blood pulse - of this I am sure.

When I wore it around my neck on my heart (chakra) I started to feel its energy, sometimes chilly or sometimes 'electric' and I even had to take it off again as it was too strong and disturbed me. A similar effect I only had with my Astrophyllite so far.

At the moment I don't use them since I concentrate more on projection and I did not find in my trials  (contrary to what some experts say) that it is also stone for lucid experiences (OBEs). So I try other stones for that (or do it without). But all of these are just my personal findings.

If you like just give it a try, they are not expensive. It might work for you. Hope it helps.  :-)

Besides the internet, where would I find these type of stones, crystals, etc? Like what type of shop should I search for... new age? Sorry I just don't know what the proper term would be for this type of stuff lol.

Very critical situation... Volgerle recommend him a shop where he can easily buy stones and crystals.

Hi guys,

I have been researching Moldavite and think I may have found a place near my work that would have it. I am going to try to go pick some up after work and I am very excited to see what happens with it. I have never explored crystals and stuff before but alot of people swear by it and apparently is has been proven to actually have energy.. a friend of mine is a gemologist and said that quartz watches actually have energy in the quartz that regulates the time which I always had heard of quartz watches but never really knew it had actual quartz in it that did something like that. I also know that diamonds give off heat so its not so far fetched to think crystals could have power. I honestly have always thought this stuff was mumbo jumbo but I am starting to become very open to these types of things.. so we'll see what happens if I can get it. :)

Ps. Holy crap... Inexpensive?? I got the smallest piece of moldavite for $44got a small piece of amethest for $18 also... I hope it will be worth it im putting them both under my pillow tonight.

Volgerle

Yes, you need not buy XXXL, the bigger the more expensive. Small ones will do the job and are more handy anyway. However, regarding the price: I had mine from a certified trader via ebay for only a few euros each. Same applies to the Amethyst I bought. Don't know why you had to pay that much.

Volgerle

another hint: not just putting them under your pillow but making 'close contact' e.g. by holding them and meditating (and do affirmations) before could be of help

also, you should also rinse them first under lukewarm water (which "discharges" them first), for charging an amethyst should not be put out in the sun but you can do this with the Moldavites, both can however be put out into the moonlight at night (best full moon), the folk lore says they get charged even more with energy then, some stones (such as e.g. schorl) are known to be "pyro-electric" which means they are said to store the sun's heat (light) energy, quartz crystals are then normally also used to "charge" other stones/crystals

Contenteo

A consistent dream journal and affirmations before you go to bed are a statistically significant way to incite recall of dreams. Sleep research labs use this as a standard procedure.
