i have no idea what's the purpose, either, though i have had that happen many times, too... i wake up from a dream, just to find myself in another dream, and so forth.  layers of dreams.. so weird.  i've even had dreams where i kinda stumble around, hardly able to see because my eyelids are so heavy, they won't stay open at all, and i guess i fall asleep within the dream.  another weird thing i've had is i've dreamt that i was on drugs, too, and i was feeling the effects of the drugs in my dreams (they were drugs that my mind made up, that don't exist in actual real life, to my knowledge).  i wonder what the heck that means???

I never had this happen to me, but when you dream/LD any thing can happen!

I think your brain is telling you to wake up when you dream of sleeping.

I think your brain is telling you to wake up when you dream of sleeping.

That sounds very solid, Corvette. I believe that.

Ok, I've had this happen to me a few times too.

According to me it means you are having some family troubles or something you want to tell them and get off your chest, or that you are working towards something for them.

According to www.dreamdoctor.com/dictionary it means:
Symbol of unconsciousness in dreams. If an event occurs while you sleep in a dream, consider that you have allowed something to occur in your life unconsciously. Did you let an old lover back into your life, that you believe was an error in judgement? Sleep also may represent the absence of a friend, lover, or relative (they are not present) or death. (A sleeping (deceased) grandparent, who awakens in a dream and talks to the dreamer.)

It is also tied in with the subject of dreaming about dying. If you die in a dream it is a good thing... it means you are going through a transition, a change, you are beginning a new era in your life.

Eonnn,

That's pretty interesting.  I do not believe that I am having any family problems though.  However there are several things that I simply do not discuss with my family because of thier personal nature.  Varying religious beliefs have some to do with it also.  However I think that they are just not ready to deal with the world as I see it.

As far as letting something occur unconsciously in my life...I am not sure I would have to thik about it some more.  However the idea of change is an interesting one since the dream inquestion revolved around the place that I am moving to.  However, again I will have to think about it some more and look at some of the other elements in the dream.

jc84corvette,

It's possible.  Your brain often gives you messages backwards in dreams, telling ou the opposite of what it wants or how things are effecting you.  But the question becomes this..Was it telling to me to just wake up from sleeping?  Or to wake up from the life that I am living?

Hi there!

In fact i nave had about a dozen experiences of that kind. Also, i discovered something interesting. They came to me in a period, i was thinking nardly ONLY how to astral project. My dreams began to look more and more vivid, and as i said i had a lot of these dreams.
I also discovered that when i lay down on my back in the dream and concentrate on smth high in front of my view ( in the sky, star,  cloud, even a spot somewhere high) i begin to rotate around myself (like this http://www.astropix.com/HTML/H_OTHER/METEORST.HTM) and then i somehow astral project.
Since then every time when i have a lucid dream i try to use this tehnique to astral project.
Once while projecting in a dream , i saw that in fact most of the things i see in my dreams are creatings of my subconscious! They were false!
May be this dreams are a way for the inner self to tell you that you are close to an AP and should try to project from within your dream. This is what i used to do before.
Also i red somewhere, that when projecting with the etheric body (that is 'lower', than the astral and creates a feeling that you are in the physical one) there are exactly the same feelings: you feel tired and want to go to sleep, or feel drunk or on grugs , a strange dizzyness etc; it is because the etheric body is trying to take you back to the physical one; it's like a glue or smth. (I personally have had such experiences with the etheric body and they are in that  way for me - heavy and physical like)
May be you should try to astral project from your dream next time.

Succes!

(sorry for my bad english, still laerning [:I])

Does anyone know the purpose of sleeping while IN an dream?  It really makes no sence, you are already asleep.

I have had a couple of dreams where I have done this.  The most recent was just the other day (Tuesday?).  In that dream I was walking around and became tired so I layed down to sleep and then proceeded to have a dream with in a dream.  Or I was dreaming that I was dreaming.  From which I woke up from in the dream to continue the dream I was having before I went to sleep in that dream.

Has this gotten confusing yet?

Another tie this happen I projected.  I wanted to find a place in the dream where I could lay down because I was getting some masive vibrations.  In the dream I fell asleep and when into projection.

Really I would just like to know the point of sleeping IN a dream, and dreaming while asleep in that dream.
