another thing I thought of-- usually when I experience the swirl dreams, I can still hear what is going on in the room, the apartment, etc.   This time, however, I was totally at this other place.  For what it's worth.

That sounds like a very nice experience!

Dream characters also rarely give me much information, and if they do, I have to insist alot.

One time I decided to play around telling people I had died and ended up there. All they did besides acting like I was crazy or drunk was telling me I was in Jupiter.

You shouldn't question lucid dreams (from my experiences that is).  I have many more lucid dreams than I do OBE, so like you, I've become quite familiar with the experience.  Basically all I can tell you is this... they are not prophesies or premonitions.  They are not signs from above nor warnings of events about to happen.  The reason is, in lucid dreams, like all other dreams (though you are not aware of it), are always created by you.  All the experiences and happenings in all of your dreams are created BY YOU!  The only difference is that in a lucid dream you recognize that you are dreaming.  You still retain a sense of that dream mentality though.  That is to say, if you were as aware as you are in waking state, you would be OBE.  Try to notice certain things in lucid dreams.  For example... if something strange happens in a dream, you don't think that it's all that strange.  Your subconcious dream mentality accepts it and creates a scenerio around it.  In a lucid dream, it's the same occurance, but instead of saying "well that's normal" you say "that's not normal, I must be dreaming"... but the scenerio occurs non the less.  My advice, take it for what it's worth, if nothing at all, is to look at it as a situation in which you realize you can exist in another dimension.  It is real, it's really happening (in your mind) and you are aware of it... so enjoy it, because it means nothing else.  There are no underlying answers to existence within them.  You don't solve problems that you have in the real world.  You dream, just as you would have dreamed before, but you merely realize that it's a dream.  Remember, lucid or not, dreams are always your own creation.  When things change in a dream, you did it.  When things change in a dream because you are lucid and did it willingly... YOU STILL DID IT!  You MUST retain your waking lucid rationality and realize that dreams affect nothing, other then your emotions while you are in the dream state.  So just take it for what it's worth, and try to live out the things that you can't in life... ie- fly around the world with no plane, etc!!!

Thanks for the reply, and thanks for taking the time for advice, AlphaO-- I do agree with you already, and have always known that lucid dreams are just dreams that I can control.  The reason for my confusion is that this particular dream didn't fit neatly into either the lucid dream category nor the projecting/traveling category.  I was as awake as I am in the projecting "dreams," and I used the same rules to drift off into the dream, to adjust to and navigate (except that it was mush easier) my surroundings, however I don't remember exiting my body or getting to wherever it was I wound up.  And of course movement in my projecting dreams has never been that easy.  I wondered, like you, whether the whole thing was just a lucid dream, but something won't let me accept that idea.

For now, and until I learn otherwise, I'm kinda going with the idea that it was some sort of projection, helped by someone/thing, and that the place I ended up projecting to was a kind of safe house for travellers.  Perhaps I finally learned to use the navigation skills and strength of my lucid dreams in this projection?  Perhaps it was made easier because I had so many people around me, helping & watching?

I would like to disagree here, I mean, there is not just one kind of dream. Some dreams, and I guess most of them, are just us playing around with thoughts, creating absurd situations and fullfilling desires. But there are some dreams where we are 'given' clues about ourselves, and some where we can be aware of future possibilities, the so-called premonitory dreams. They can be very objective and detailed, I've experienced a few of them during my life. There are shared dreams where 2 or more people may encounter and find many things in common in their experiences.

There are also dreams where we are controlled by aliens in computer games, there are dreams where we can see through the eyes/mind of someone else... lol, these last 2 I'm not sure yet. Anyways, who knows what kinds of dreams there are more.

Hey, anything is possible, I guess!

Incidentally, talking to my sister about this dream the other day reminded me that I'd actually dreamt of that house and that woman before.  It was a year or two ago, early in my projection dreams.  There was a party or some kind of club function in the house in a room I didn't see or go into.  The kind matronly woman and I were in the kitchen breakfast area, and she was guiding me as I practiced clearing swirls.  It was daytime that time, and there was also a small dog or some animal there then, too, but I don't remember what kind.

Hi sashamasha,

Welcome to the Astral Pulse forums! [:)] I thought that your topic might be better suited to our Dreams forum so it has been moved here. This forum does encompass lucid dreams which can, of course, turn into obe or astral projections at times. So, I hope moving this topic is alright with you. If not, please pm me and we'll work something out. [;)]

So today I was in a new museum that opened up here in Estonia over the past year.  I have not visited here in several years.  The museum details the Soviet and Nazi occupations here... anyway, I was thrown for a loop when I turned around and saw the weird car/gocart/vehicle thingy that I "dreamt" of (see original post).  I've never seen one before.  It is, in fact, a car of sorts, ancient, very small, crappy, soviet-made, and I could easily see how a roof would need replacing and rust off quickly.  The interior was the same as I recalled, no steering wheel.  Very small, very low to the ground.  I guess I could also now understand why dour young blond men might be in one, though not why it would be in my home neighborhood, across the oceans!!

kairi,
You ask:
quote:
what is a lucid dream anyways?

At first this word had me boggled as well. It's helped me to look at it as just a loose term for awareness, being aware you are dreaming while you are dreaming (or experiencing something). Others may have a different idea about it.

Hi, everyone... what a relief to see a community like this!

I've always, since early childhood, had experiences with lucid dreaming; flying, changing scenery, changing people and their actions, etc.   I've always just explored and experimented these on my own.  Also some strange nightmares that, looking back, I think were just a variety of undercooked lucid dreaming or travel of some sort.

Anyway, lately, I've gotten stronger, and more in control of these dreams.  BUT I've also, in the past couple years, experienced a new kind of "dream:" mostly, they begin in my apartment, during a nap or after I've dozed off in the morning after waking up too early, etc.  I can "get up" and explore my apartment, usually first there is this CRAZY color thing going on, all the surroundings are swirly and over saturated, very very flourescent... I now can clear this up pretty quickly by will, and get to moving around, usually limited to my actual apartment  (or, when I first started, neutral industrial-type environments), and go through things, and see (the one in my apartment, who I assume is my house ghost of many years, though maybe not, somewhat surprised at first) other beings of some sort, do some very simple walking around, and not too long after, choose to snap back.  Thse have become much more vivid and deliberate over time, and I know that as a very young child I experienced them, though shut them off throughout later childhood and adolescence.

There has also been a male presence of some sort since adolescence who invites or encourages me into these dreams, or simply reminds me, with touch.  Do I sound crazy yet??

But this morning, I had a weird experience that seemed like a hybrid of my usual lucid dreams and these walking around dreams.  I found myself in this weird halfway house type place, and unable to remember going through the usual steps to enter the "dream."  It was not the usual kind of lucid dream-- it was definitely the swirly walking around kind of dream, and as soon as I "woke up" in the house, I did the clearing of the swirls etc., and explored a little.  I was greeted by a dog I know (this has happened before), which was comforting.

I explored this stange old house, and sensed other beds and people sleeping, and finally came to a living room practically brimming with old women, some visible, some not, some ancient, some younger.  I didnt know they were there until I announced my name and asked where I was- their all-at-once reponses kind of scared me so I cut them off and they immediately were silent and sort of receded.  I asked one of the women who seemed to be the hostess, a very nice person, where I was-- she wouldnt say beyond it being in my general actual neighb orhood, as if she didn't want to tell me as it would scare me or something.  I told her I wanted to leave the house and go outside and she really was against that but let me go.

Outside, it was thick snow, wet streets, yet the trees were full and green, and the sky was gorgeous pink and blue.  I overtook a young asian man whose activity was To Walk.  He was just into the walking thing.  He was nice but also wouldnt tell me where I was beyond telling me the name of my general neighborhood in the city.  I asked whether it was something on TOP of that neighborhood, both together, or what, but he wasn't saying.  I also asked where I could get a coat, since I was wearing (oddly) a nighgown, and he said "anywhere."

Then I got silly.  I was so happy and felt so free and exhiliarated, that when i saw a weird scavenged sort of vehicle with some cute men, I sang to them-- rather, right in their faces, thinking they'd find it charming-- which seemed the wrong choice.  they were brothers, I think, and VERY DOUR.  they weren't upset or angry with me, but slow and curious, non-expressive, and when they made to get out of the car thing and investigate me, I decided to get the heck out of there, so I flew straight up until I was blocked from their view by the trees, and attempted to get a direction on where my building was from there.  I had an idea of what specific neighborhood I was in, which is near my mother's childhood home.  But as I continued to fly up, a new presence, which seemed to have been watching me the whole time, decided "that's enough of this playing around" and firmly but kindly pulled me back out of the dream, and back to my bed, and back awake.

Wow that was a lot of typing.  So, until I can get my hands on some research on the whole topic, can anyone tell me where the heck I migh have been???  Was I in danger?  Who ARE all these people and presences?  I have sooooooooooooo many questions.
