A transport vehicle is the way you choose to travel. Mental energy or some form of energy. It's related to ground to air travel. Two rails is a parallel pathway, or balance (more secure?). A system you use regularly. An established pattern. Is there electric in the rails? Trains haul. Monorails transports numbers of people. Are there others involved?

Vehicles may also mean the physical body or ego. Outside appearance. Also conveyance, so a communication device. The vehicle descibed sounds up to date, but yet connected by rails. Security in a mindset?

My travel vehicles are cars, trucks, and a bus once, in an earlier dream. Other vehicles has been a space ship for time travel (disconnected?),airplanes, helicopter, balloon or orbs, and once an odd collective vehicle on or in the ground which had multiple metal legs for strange scrambling maneuvers (not straight line travel).

The only times I personally experience a train on rails, is when I have a burdens. The train is oversized and can't take the weight on the track, including trestle (bridge), or maintain free space near it's path. So, I guess I steer clear of those kind of transport vehicles. [:)]  Oh yeah,I'm reminded, I've read that females see trains as a phallic symbol. [:)]

Logic

They are tracks, with an electrical rail in the middle. They are never full when I ride them, nor do they crash, Im using one of them almost everywhere I go in dreams. I don't know any of the people on them, they are all strangers, though I occasionally converse with people as if I knew them in the dream.

phal·lic    ( P )  Pronunciation Key  (flk)
adj.
1.Of, relating to, or resembling a phallus.
2.Of or relating to the cult of the phallus as an embodiment of generative power: phallic worship.
3.Of or relating to the third stage of psychosexual development in psychoanalytic theory, from about ages three to six, during which gratification is focused on sensations associated with the genital organs. The phallic stage is preceded by the anal stage and followed by the latency period.

I'm not female, but I'm assuming you meant the last meaning?

I'm glad someone put the definition up! I was sitting here pondering what it meant and too lazy to dig out my dictionary. I remember studying that in Psychology. Has to do with a Freudian theory does it not?

Trains, for me, mean an easy, fast, and unhindered way to get somewhere. I dream of them when I want an easy way out of something or am in a particularly LAZY mood. But that's just me hehe.

EDIT: Also, The type of train changes the meaning in my dreams. I rarely dream of modern monorail type trains; mostly freight trains or steam engines. This because they have a sort of raw machined appearance to me. No cut corners, no fake facades, nothing hiding what really drives the power of machine. It defines the no nonsense power of technology to me more than modern streamlined designs.
"Doohicky" "thingie", "thingamajigger" and "what'sit" are all commonly accepted engineering terms these days. Impress your boss and use more than one in a sentance... Major brownie points!

A vehicle driven with the assist of a power line makes me think of kundalini activity.I keep picturing Logic's vehicle as shiny white. I guess that's why the idea of kundalini stays with me(had previous experience with it). Logic, what color is your vehicle?

Logic

Mostly white, with one red and blue stripe on the side.

(This is what some of them look like, the same ones I use to get around)
We are not truly lost, until we lose ourselves.

Logic,
A good guess on my part! I was picturing the front view. The light I didn't see, just a shiny white front. Looking at your picture, I think of white light. Kundalini can be a white light. Do you travel with the light on?

I looked at your picture again, that's a window in the front, I thought at first it was a huge headlight. The reflection in the window gave me this first impression.

Now I have to think about what the window means. In your dream, is that big window in it?

There is one other fundamental aspect of trains that has not been touched on, and that is that they always travel in set paths. A train can only go on it's tracks - nowhere else.

A possible interpretation may be that your subconscious is warning you that your thinking is becoming too hardened or formulaic, or that your life may be losing spontaneity.  Just what that relates to would be in a personal context, of course.
Non semper ea sunt quae videntur.

Syke

Or perhaps you just travel in trains a lot? Your dream replays and works through most of what you think throughout the day, so if you spend a fair bit of your time in trains it's bound to effect your dream.

wisp, there may be no point in trying to interpret that picture, as that's just a picture. It's not odd to find a big window in the front of a train, how else would the conductor see out?

Yes a train is a very strong phallic symbol, but mainly when entering a tunnel.

wisp

Syke,
You make a point, but what your seeing is not what everyone sees. A picture is the same as a picture in a dream. Although some dreams tell of daily life issues, some dreams are making a stronger and lasting point. It depends on how you care to look at it. If the dream suggests energy, I go there. The original request from Logic is, what do others think of the dream. When something is seen (in this case) a revelation can occur to the dreamer. If not this dream, maybe a later one. It's about building blocks (or a pyramid[:)]). Dreams build building blocks to understanding, sometimes big, sometimes small. I personally look at those things that I see in my own dreams. It may not make sense to the other person. The point of dream study (for me anyway) is to connect to truth by learning consistencies (patterns). For instance, a window. I have had many window dreams. Windows in waking life is something I use for dimensional travel. Window, symbolizes perception, seeing, and other hidden things. Light symbolizes tranformation, energy, seeing and not seeing, so on and so forth. The truth be known from what I've learned....I am light....my dreams has shown me that. This statement doesn't have the same jolt coming from me, as it would for the person receiving the message first hand. Going backward from that truth (for me), is that I am not a train, some people are. I have been other things, such as the vehicles I mentioned. When I travel, I have more than once become something (change). For instance, when I first came to this forum, Lysear (if I remember right) suggested a group effort to a destination. I participated. The group effort didn't work out, but I made a discovery. I discovered I can get where I wanted to go beforehand. Before, I went to random places. My first successful predestination placed me as earth (soil). I was part of the ground of my destination. Dreams show these same things.

Sorry for the long winded reply, but I'm passionate about this sort of things about dreams. I'm more into the spiritual and mysterious aspect of dreams. What looks like a flash in a dream is a road. There are steps to catch the flash of light. Why? Because I believe everyone is light too. If only more would (wood) "get it", it could change the world as we know it.

Logic

Well, I meditated on this a bit, which really lead me to no solid conclusion. However, after riding on a sky train again for the first time in a few weeks I did begin to understand something about my dream. I noticed on the skytrain how many people come in contact with eachother, who don't even say the slightest thing to eachother, not even a simple "hello".

It occured to me then that this is somewhat of a reflection of my life, how there are few people whom I can really talk to. I can't say I know many people who share much in common with me, which is what I think the dream was supposed to mean to me. I don't really know the people who know me, and vise versa.

After that, I haven't had any recollection of skytrains in my dreams.

Logic said:
quote:
this is somewhat of a reflection of my life

This tells me you are seeing (reflecting) a trend in your life. The trend can also be the tracks your traveling on (or connected to). I think of you recognizing a life scheme, also called a life theme. For me, and others I have talked with have mentioned noticing themes in their life.

My life themes for starters are, financial, social, personal relationships.

Breaking it down:
Financial....I have a tendency to have to pay dearly for everything.

Socially...I'm clueless, a monster to me in some respect?

Personal relationships....I come off as one who is either liked or disliked....why?

When disliked (occasionally)....that person is set on destroying me in a big way.
When liked....that person leaves me alone. This is something agreeable to me.

I like to drop in on people. If they don't like this, they have a issue with me (unknown reason), I stay away from that person.I have other red flags I can see.

This is a sample of life trends, there is more to this.

Logic, you are seeing and perceiving something about interactions with people. This observation you have I'm sure is accurate. However, though true, your vehicle seems quite large and extreme for such a subtle message. I wonder what more there is to it? Interesting. What could this mean on a larger scale? I guess it depends on how important other people are to you. I can't say, because I am more reclusive than most people.

Vehicles can serve as a protection from something outside.
I learned my reclusive tendencies when I was quite young. When I was in this one music class in school, for some reason I imagined myself in an army tank while class was in session.

I'll think more on this. Since you haven't had anymore dreams since your recognition of this isolation (in a deep sense) with people, it could be resolved for now.

Hey Logic, trains are funny things, lots of symbolism - and as you say when you're on them everyone does their best to ignore one another but you can hear their brains whirring!
Your post made me dig out a poem I wrote 13 years ago (late attack of teen angst or something), and just inspired me to finish it off! Doubt if it will help you decypher your dreams but here goes:
(You may not get the punchline unless you've been on a London Underground train.)

What are you on?

Am I on an underground train?
And did I really scream
And scream until my lungs were empty
And my eyes were full of stubborn tears?

"Can none of you hear me?"
"Can nobody see past their paperback book?"

I brace myself as a head turns to look...
It's my head and I'm looking inwards.

I've built a little metal cocoon
With little unwashed windows to distort the view outside
And little sliding doors so people can come for the ride

And all that time there was a little sign above my head
"Penalty for improper use - only fifty quid" it said.

Logic

Thank you everyone for your replies, and thanks for the poem SomeBloke, I'm glad I could help you to finish it.

Logic,
You did me a favor too. I had a dream with a glass door in it. Some guy was hiding out from me(behind a sign on the door), it scared me a little. I reached straight through that glass and took care of him! You don't wanna know what I did to the guy. [:)] That aside, I did reach through the glass! [:)]

SomeBloke,
Great poem! I didn't get the last line. I guess it's like you said, you have to have been there. [:)]

Logic

For the last few months, nearly every night I have had the same symbol appear in all of my dreams: Sky Trains (like monorails, but with two)

I am always riding around on them, they take me to different scenes in my dreams, and back again. Also, I have been a lot less lucid latley, so I can't exactly give much more information about it than that.

I know that dreams can really only be "interpreted" by the individual, but I am curious to hear some of your opinions or ideas about this, as I am rather perplexed about the whole thing, which sort of relates to my whole life right now.

Thanks in advance.
